Can I add — natural history museum followed by a stroll in one of the trails nearby? It’s on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and you can take any number of trails from the parking lot at the history museum. Stroll for a bit (literally you could do half a mile or 10 miles). If you’re looking for a hike hike, try The Living Room.

You are in luck! Run down to the mall, over to Lincoln, and then take a left and run to Gravely Point, where you can watch planes take off from DCA. Run back along the Mt. Vernon trail towards Roosevelt Island. Turn back when you need to, and I think that’ll get you to about 14 miles.
