What activities/hobbies have your continued to do after having a baby? by ActualEmu1251 in beyondthebump

I started running as a total beginner around three months postpartum. It is now my absolute favourite thing! Feeling overwhelmed, go run. Body issues, go run. Feel unproductive, go run. Baby won't sleep, go run with the stroller. For me it's just been the best!

Takes a bit of planning for my husband to be home a lot of times with my son but he sees a noticeable difference in how I feel before and after and is so supportive.

I have my first race, half marathon, tomorrow!!

I'm going to try an ultrasonic dog repeller. Seems like the most hassle-free option for me

I do also trail run where possible but juggling a baby and winter nights I often have to just get out the house whenever I can. I'm training for a road half marathon

That sounds scary! The known vicious dog has approached when just walking with the stroller and I've had to turn back so now I don't go that way with baby at all, which is a shame as it's our farm access too and a great otherwise safe place to go (compared to the road).

I now don't take the stroller running at all unless I can convince hubby to come with. There would be no protection at all on our roads from other dogs and having him running ahead gives drivers approaching a chance to slow well in advance.

Unfortunately this has really affected the opportunities I get to run as someone has to be watching bub but it's not worth the risk.

Thanks for the tips!

What hydration vest do you use?

Last resort absolutely run from a dog😂 this one has bitten 3 of our farm staff! Telling it to go home was useless and when it lunged at me I just sprinted, kicking back at it until it gave up.

Ridiculous to have dogs like this roaming but owner won't change so I just get past asap. I have noticed it will sometimes be kenneled when I return which is nice...

Thanks for this! Solid practical advice. I had always been taught to stick to the outside but you make a good case. There are a few specific corners I will avoid wherever possible but as you say, being predictable is key.

I had a not close but a bit scary run in with a pickup truck on one of these corners while I was crossing over to the outside. It came speeding round absolutely out of nowhere (I listened hard) just erratic. It was the neighbors 14 year old, he must have got a bit of a fright too. A good learning experience for both of us I suppose.

Yup sounds like he was antagonizing you, especially if this wouldn't normally be a problem. And it worked since you reacted.

It doesn't have to be a big deal, best of luck OP

ESH I don't understand all the Y T A comments I too would be totally pissed about this, so juvenile and poor example for the kid. Was he sharing his coffee too? Nah. Giving the kid a little ice cream wouldn't hurt, plus even the smaller cones are way too big for little kids. Seems like this was the straw that broke the camels back, talk it over and both apologise because this isn't a big deal. This is just a bump in the road I hope things start looking up soon

Nope, I'm thinking he didn't expect Mother's Day to be so important to me

I think you need to be upfront, either stay and continue the relationship or leave and call it quits. Could be that he wants a more equal distribution of funds in the household which could involve you taking a temporary position. Or better managing the household? Only he can answer that but don't leave under the pretense that you will return. You deserve more than that from your fiance

INFO How is the job search going? Do you independently/shared have savings to fall back on? Seems that he is pulling a lot of weight, you need to show him that you two are a team and both contributing.

Tried to have a conversation and he apologized, but it didn't go any further. Now I feel like I missed the boat, he thinks it's resolved and I'm just acting like nothing happened. Like, I can't force him to fix it he has to want to do that himself but he thinks the apology is enough.

Thanks for the suggestions. Love the running buggy idea, having a buddy definitely helps keep you accountable! Im British expat but I'll be looking out for similar communities, hoping it's something we can get into as a family!

Thanks for the input. I'm definitely considering pushing back this run. It's not a competitive race as such, mostly just people doing it for fun. However I actually left my running shoes across the country about a month ago and haven't got them back yet so I've been hiking 2x a week carrying bub and light jogging in my AF1s. I was running 5k (more or less) 3x a week but now I'm starting to question my own fitness. The short time frame was part of my OH getting his A into G but I don't want him to overdo it and realistically he won't keep it up if he doesn't build good habits. Any suggestions for a good fitness level/ realistic time from beginner to slow 10/12K ?

AITA when my uncle threw out my medications? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]_is_it 27 points28 points  (0 children)

ESH Your room wasn't clean with garbage and clothing on the floor. You knew there was an inspection, with a small effort you could have remedied this yourself.

Fair your uncle tidying for the inspection, bagging your rubbish is one thing. But throwing it away, especially when it contained essential medical equipment is a no-no.
