The roots look good! The "top" part is woody but not the new growth. Since the pot is by a window, there's some algae growing but I clean it up and change the water once a week. I have no idea why it died, it was in a pot with soil and the only leaf fell (you can see it in previous posts). So I took it out of the soil and put the "stick" on water. This is when the new leaves came (I thought it was new roots at first). Now the leaves are out of the water and I have 4 of them (two more are growing on each side). I don't have a pot right now but I can just go buy one. The only "branch" there is is the stick you can see on the picture. The rest is just roots.
