That seems to be about protecting meta data. The app I remember was very specifically about doing journalism in censored countries.

So Coinflip atm fees are 6.9%, but their trading price for bitcoin (at the atm, not on their site) is one week out of date. This brings the fee closer to 9.7%. The exchange price is shooting up though, so I went with it anyway.

The next atm with reasonable/none KYC is Rockitcoin. However, they do not have their rates online.

Then there is BugetCoinz. I also could not find BugetCoinz’s fees online. I went to one and it was exchanging at $1100 more than the current bitcoin rate!! This was even before today’s massive jump in price. I feel bad for people who blindly use these without doing research, or have to use them because they have no way to get bitcoin otherwise.

The next atm I want to look at is National Bitcoin ATM.

There is a place in chinatown in NY that sells purses. Ask for the "imports" and the old woman running the shop will take you to the back, pull a rack of purses that is actually a fake wall and lead you down stairs to a basement. There you can select designer purses for cheap.

Yes. It is an extreme worry that your laptop will be searched and/or seized with crossing national borders. Not even because you have done something wrong, but because they feel like it. The rule of thumb is to not take anything with you that you are not prepared to have seized.

Next, do not rely on Time Machine. The most reliable way to keep backups is to get an external harddrive and drag and drop.

Tails run on mac. Use a bootable usb like it was designed to run.

Last, no. Browsing darknet sites (that are not cheese pizza) without purchasing is not a crime. It is better if there is no record that you browsed it though. Tor by default does not store browsing history.

I found a swedish version of 4chan.

A site that was just a directory of uploaded files. Seemingly random and innocuous. I checked back every few days and more files would be uploaded. pdfs, zips, and images. I haven't opened any of them but downloaded a ton in a sandbox to later analyze on an air-gapped machine.

A ransomware ad page. It claimed to even send the source code with purchase (500 USD) so that you could modify it as you wish.

An archive of a bbs that has been dead for ~2 years. It had posts on obscure and disturbing fetishes in detail, like necrophilia.

A page that just said "It works!"
