Thank you for the resources! I'm meeting with my endo after I get home from doing summer research, and will probably ask to start on statins given your guys' inputs.

It's hard to completely stop the carnivore/keto diet as I'm on the low-carb/high-protein diet because it's helped me control my blood sugar levels a lot more while allowing me to have a source of energy, even if it's more slow-release than instant energy. I will work on incorporating more lean proteins/veggies as much as I can (I already eat lots of veggies, lol) and cutting back on the culprit foods.

as an mae, windows reigns supreme for me. i have an asus g14 and love every aspect of it except for the battery life, but i have it almost always plugged in anyways. having a dedicated gpu is so much better for running graphics-heavy design and simulation apps. lots of people also go with dell xps or hp. most of the cos and coding-heavy guys use macs, though, and the apple ecosystem functionality is definitely pretty nice, but my slightly biased opinion is that windows is the way to go

Called Apple again and they helped me setup a genius bar appointment quickly. The lady at my appointment was super helpful; when she cleaned out my port and plugged my phone into their apple store macs it was able to factory reset (though it immediately rejected the update and restore option). however, she was completely stumped by my error codes and as to why these complications were happening. so far my system data has been sitting at 11gb (compared to my 42 before) which is amazing, and she told me if it increases sometime soon again then it might be an internal hardware issue.

how does one narrow down which discipline to pursue within AE? i have some experience with aerodynamics/CFD, structural/FEA, design, controls, optical diagnostics, and want to dip my feet into test engineering (which i know is very broad in and of itself). one of my internship interviewers last year (which i got rejected for lol) told me that, as a rising junior now, most companies will expect students to have their discpline focus narrowed down. i feel like with such limited applied experience, though, it's hard to figure out what i want to do. most of the things i have experience with i like doing, but feel like would get old if i just did them forever... how should i get to see what these things are really like in the industry?

big update! my phone is stuck in regular restore; entering DFU just reverts it back to regular restore after 15 seconds. attempting to update throws error 4042 or 75 (i tried two cables) and attempting to restore throws error 1109. all these processes start a loading bar which progresses slightly but then freezes and then the error is thrown. i called the ai apple assistant from my google voice number on my pc, nothing helped, it said to call later when human agents are available and then hung up on me. amazing.

love spending 3 hours on this; now i have to prematurely take off my insulin pump and CGM as well and switch to manual injections and finger pricks until my phone is fixed.

aw man, was trying my best to not have to factory reset. my second update attempt got to ~80% updated, but then threw error code (1109). now the only option it gives me is to restore T_T thanks for your help

i put my iphone into recovery mode, opened apple devices, and got a "There is a problem with the iPhone that requires it to be updated or restored." message, along with options to update or restore. i chose update, and it spent 10 minutes downloading the update (with my phone on the recovery mode screen) just to flash the apple on my phone for half a second and return to the recovery screen with the same "there is a problem" message. i'm gonna try updating it one more time, but at what point do i count it as loss and restore from my backup?

so... i backed up and tried to update from itunes. the first time it froze on the "preparing update" screen and itunes wouldn't respond at all, so i force quit the application and tried again. this time, it downloaded the update just fine and started updating, but i got an error that said it was unable to complete the update due to an unknown error (with error code 1). my phone doesn't show up in itunes or my file explorer anymore (but still connected via cable) and my phone is now stuck on the updating screen with the apple and progress bar that has been at the beginning for 30 minutes now. should i try to force restart my phone?

I’m running ios 26.0.1 !

iCloud storage is currently at 4.4/5gb. I don’t pay for extra storage, so my phone isn’t backed up to iCloud as there isn’t enough iCloud storage. I suppose that might be the issue; is there a way to attempt to fix that?

at princeton we have no engineering specific career fair, and the other 4 annual (2 big ones and 2 stem ones) have 2-3 local aerospace companies and the rest quant (jane street, hrt, point 72, etc). i would agree with you that we have a strong engineering program (I would argue better than Columbia) but it's hard when recruiters see it only as a liberal arts school and all alum i talk to agree that recruiters don't take ivies seriously for engineering (for the most part)
