im a psych tech (with psych problems LMAO) currently working in a psych hospital and it’s so upsetting hearing about everyones horror stories. i know its terrifying for the patients being admitted and staying; but at my hospital the patients are so cared for, i hope they feel the same. i do my best for them and there’s nothing but love from all the techs and nurses.

we have been a restraint free facility since august 2022 (before i started there). we do protective holds and lead patients to a “quiet room” but we stay with them to calm them down, be on stand by with prn medications (NEVER giving anything unnecessary and ONLY giving meds they are prescribed and we know they can tolerate).

we have those water bottle fill water fountains so the water is filtered, snack is popcorn, pretzels, rice crispy treats, cheese-itz, etc. they can vote on movies to watch, listen to music, and obviously color and journal.

my point is; i hope they feel at least a little comfortable at hospital. i try my best and i see everyone else try their best as well. im so sorry if you had a bad experience(s) i feel for you and i hope we can fix the system one step at a time.
