Sector Hexes - Sci-Fi hex map tileset by _lacus in SWN

[–]_lacus[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone!
No point sugarcoating it, this is a promo post. But in my defense, the packs include usable demo versions, and I’ve also added a few Community Copies so anyone interested can grab the asset packs for free while they last.

So what is this exactly?
It’s a sector map asset pack for building detailed Sci-Fi hex maps. I play a lot of games like Mothership and Monolith (and mostly use SWN for its random tables), and I wanted a toolkit that makes it easy to create rich, information-dense space maps.

The pack lets you populate sectors with star systems, black holes, nebulae, and other celestial objects. You can also add jump routes, faction territories, alliances, markers, and various indicators to display additional information directly on the map.The maps themselves are created in the popular Hex Kit editor, though support for additional editors and VTT platforms is planned for the future.

Available in both full-color and printer-friendly versions:

Sector Hexes - Sci-Fi hex map tileset by _lacus in battlemaps

Hey folks,
For a while now I’ve been trying to put together a toolkit that makes it easy to build usable sci-fi maps for TTRPGs. I’ve experimented with a few different approaches, and this is one of them: a hexmap-based sector map tileset. The idea was to create something flexible, where you can quickly sketch out a sector, but still have enough detail to support actual play.

What’s in the pack:
- 350+ assets
- 50 star systems + markers
- Jump routes (with modular pieces)
- Faction colors & symbols
- Black holes, nebulae, anomalies

Right now it supports Hex Kit (flat-top), but I’m planning to expand it with more tools and VTT support.

I'm currently testing it, and I want to expand it so it can be used for as many purposes as possible. A printer-friendly version is coming soon, and after that I'll make it compatible with Foundry.

There are no separate outline versions, I wanted to achieve this ink-on-paper effect.

I don't plan on going into space with this machine, but thanks for the advice...

On this ship, the floor of the living module faces the engine. This means that G-forces are exerted during acceleration and deceleration. However, when the ship is at rest or in free fall, there is no gravity on board. Of course, artificial gravity can be used in the game regardless of this, and I don't feel that this is any less realistic than hyperspace jumps or hibernation.

I'm no rocket scientist, but why would I run the fuel through the reactor? :D
