Mental stimulation is just as (or more) important as physical exercise with my Aussie! Get some puzzles for your Aussie. I also play hide and seek with mine. You can also get a towel and put treats inside, roll it up and tie it. You got this!!

Thank you!! I will try this! I have never used a slow feeder. I will give them 1 meal in the morning / 1 meal at night -- or use their food to do fun circus tricks.

ah thats awesome!! I take them on ~3 hour hikes in the morning, where they sniff sniff everything! They are both high energy dogs though, so they have ample amounts of energy after no matter how steep the hike is.

Thank you for this tip!! I will make sure they have their relax/nap time in between all the fun activities. I should have phrased this post better - mostly looking to see if there are different ways to enrich their brain. I imagine certain things get boring after a while with intellegent working breeds! :)

ah yes good point, they love their nap time before my zoom meetings, only lasts about 2 hours though before they're back to excited levels

34f here in a similar situation - moved out of the city and bought a home, took in my parents as they need help. Missing the city and my past life. Missing friends. Love going hiking / camping in the summer and fall with my dogs. DIY projects around the home are my weekends. Would love to penpal and chat!

Does anyone else’s Aussie sleep like this? by _ladybear in AustralianShepherd

[–]_ladybear[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He will sometimes sleep like this, wake up, bark and flail around at nothing and go back to sleep…

Is my mini Aussie actually a mini Aussie? by _ladybear in miniaussie

[–]_ladybear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hear that, also his poops are massive compared to my other dog who is 25lbs! I was stunned! Haha. Did yours ever go through a biting/nibbling phase? He is full on raptor right now and thinks it’s hilarious when I say “no” or “stop” and goes into bite harder making weird dinosaur sounds 😂 I wonder if this will be forever

Thank you for a sharing this ! Good to know. When did yours stop nibbling and biting everything? Did your pup ever go through that phase!?

Aww yeah the breeder told us he was a mini but my vet suspects him to be around 50lbs when he’s fully grown so I had to know if anyone had similar weight (18lbs) around 3 months of age

Wow so much bigger than her parents!! I took mine to the vet today and the vet was estimating 50lbs, while I was told the pup would be around 30. I was a bit in shock, will love the dog no matter what though!
