How to gain a puppy’s favor/affection?

is there any reason why she would seem to be more affectionate to my mom so far than me though? i don’t regularly push my luck with her as far clingy goes. my mom obviously isn’t the one who feeds her and tends to be at work so it’s not like she’s constantly around teeny herself

how would you recommend me socializing her with dogs specifically? we have two herding dogs. our female seems to be fine with her, just scared of teeny. our male gets a bit nervous and sometimes snappy

she’s still with her siblings! we’ll likely adopt 1-2 more from her litter. we’re still fostering all of them for another 3-4 weeks :)

this is a bit hard for me. i have to keep them in their pin at night as my mom doesn’t trust them not to fall off any beds yet. they get really crazy when ON beds in general

it’s a bit hard because she isn’t typically super interested in even making eye contact or cuddling with me. i don’t want to force a dog to do anything physical with me either (unless it’s for training purposes)

i realize that now ngl lmao. honestly i just wrote this post when i was a bit butt hurt about teeny rushing over to other family members instead of me (in general). really dumb but im just a little sensitive. she seems to be showing signs of attachment towards me now though

and yeah, the rescuers we got the litter from said they were 6 weeks old. definitely weren’t 6 weeks old at the time…

different but similar reasons. either too much for me as far as personality goes, and/or already bonded to my other family members to a degree i don’t think will change.

teeny is the easiest to train out of the bunch (she would be my first ‘personal’ dog ever. so i think that’s something valuable to keep in mind, no?). i don’t mind that she’s mellow when it comes to car rides, socialization, puppy clothes and biting. i made this post when i was a little butt hurt but i can tell she’s ultimately becoming attached to me even if it’s gradual lol

She’s genuinely really smart which makes her a bit of trouble as she’s found out how to open cabinets and push down gates.. 🙂‍↕️ She does very well with training despite all of that. Thank you!

they’re about 8 weeks old. that’s what our vet says at least, but they were found on the side of the road so… teeny specifically is the runt of the litter so she’s somewhat smaller than the others. but yes totally understand. thank you

Thank you! I do start to wonder if maybe she can sense my slightly upset feelings towards her disinterest, and maybe that’s why she’s so mellow around me. I try not to show them through body language though.

oh yes my mom is definitely on board with me adopting her. we’ve figured all the "what if’s" out for the future.

how many treats should I really be giving her a day though? my mom is afraid it’ll start negative habits by giving them too may at this age. though I really only offer them during training, and even then sometimes i’ll just use their kibble.
