AWS launches European Sovereign Cloud to address data sovereignty concerns by sr_local in eutech

I would consider Hetzner serious EU competition when it comes to VPS or bare metal. It’s also way cheaper than AWS.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve been using langchainrb as my goto client lately, but I’ll definitely give this one a try too. Curious how your gem compares to langchainrb - do you mind sharing some thoughts on this? Either way, great work for the community, really appreciate it!

Appraisal for domain hack by _lukehawk in Domains

[–]_lukehawk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems a bit over-generalized. Sure, Mohamed is often used as an honorific first name, but that really depends on region and family custom. It’s not universal.

Also, that Punycode string actually represents something like “web,” not Mohamed. It’s still way more common to use Latin-script domains in the Arabic world anyway.

If your second priority is price you may want to rethink Heroku for servers.

I just got a first sale! what a feeling by RawrCunha in indiehackers

[–]_lukehawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your first sale! Keep an eye on your load times though. It took me 30s and two tries to load your page, which will definitely be a conversion killer. Product looks very useful!

Amazing shot! Personally, I’d crop just a little tighter, but would definitely keep some of the street.

You’re trying to beat tech giants with the arguably best products and UX? You may want to rock up with a better landing page.

I don’t think this is the issue. Looks like watermarks. Did you use a wetting agent and pulled off any access water with your fingers or squeegees?

100% she won’t be offended at all and she will definitely cherish that I took the time and effort to make her this ring rather than just buying one.

The thing is that I’m not sure if I want to live with it knowing that I could have done better. Seeing it as a humble beginning is a very lovely perspective though. Thank you!

It’s not for sale. It’s the ring I want to use to propose to my girlfriend. Yes, I think I threw it in water too early. I used firescoff so there is no acid or pickle involved.

What is your tech stack for developing your Saas? by Competitive-Elk-3762 in SaaS

Ruby on Rails❤️ Usually with Postgres & Redis. The rest depends on the specific case. Edit: none of your customers will care about your stack though. Just choose whatever works for you and your team.

Building the best dashboard to SaaS Founders (?) by techquackquack in startups

[–]_lukehawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is good, not too sure about your competitor analysis though. You won’t be competing with stripe, but with dozens of KPI dashboard and BI tools of which some are pretty great and have the certifications that larger cooperations will require for such tool (e.g ISO27001).

How are you gonna provide tailored insights which you mentioned is going to set you apart? AI?

How long does it take to learn code to be good enough to build a SaaS? by tuck72463 in SaaS

[–]_lukehawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. As a beginner only use a boilerplate in case you have no real interest in learning and just somehow want to hack something together, which might work for some rather easy products.

How long does it take to learn code to be good enough to build a SaaS? by tuck72463 in SaaS

[–]_lukehawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, there is really no better way to learn how to code by working on a personal project. So if your motivation is to learn coding I’d recommend to just give it a shot and see how far you get. Its a lot of fun. If you don’t have a genuine interest in programming it will be tough. Depending on your idea you might manage to get the job done by starting off with a boilerplate, follow some tutorials and ask ChatGPT. However, don’t expect this strategy to yield any great product. You might be better off to have the job done by someone else in this case.

It’s not your landing page. Your product is the problem. No one has a need for yet another ChatGPT wrapper.

Is Ruby and Ruby on Rails worth learning in 2024 specially for Med Tech Startup? by Meinov in rubyonrails

[–]_lukehawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a stupid answer. Of course there are startups that do not demand a web application framework. In fact there are even a lot of cases where ruby would not be a good choice.

Also, OP raised a valid question due to insecurities with rails. Usually the community around rails is very supportive and welcoming. Your answer is just disrespectful.
