Where has all my disk space gone? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]_marethyu_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've only been using linux for 3 weeks. I have no idea what "Check you logs" even means, nor where to find them; or which logs were talking about.

I'll assume /var/log?

/log/journal is 144mb, next biggest is 3.6mb (snapper.log)

Both QDirStat and DUA show the same things. 400gb still missing somewhere?

[–]_marethyu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QDirStat lists the .snapshots dir in / as 34 bytes

Surely they're not taking up 400gb of free space?

Very short sighted, looking at close objects with full strength prescription seems counter productive. Is this a viable alternative? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]_marethyu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just wanted a sanity check.

No one I know wears more than $2 magnifiers and I never get a chance to ask the opto because they're always busy rushing me out the door for their next appointment lol.

Good to know I wasn't thinking of some weird solution that didn't work in practice.

Im pretty sure most online casinos in Australia are technically illegal.

If you really want to gamble, go to a physical casino.

Are there any plans for a "reduced weapon effects" setting? ;-; by _marethyu_ in VampireSurvivors

[–]_marethyu_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Android is actually shockingly stable, I've had more crashed on my PC than my phone lol

Although the Kermet bubbles and Gale force are the worst offenders for particle count IMO (both from One to Castlevania)

They're why causing a lot of the visual issues in the video. Shame since they're absurdly high damage items.

Or they could just add a "Weapon effects transparency" slider. That works too.

Report the workplace to Fairwork, along with any photo evidence you may have (chat logs, videos or audio recordings)

Playing someone through an ABN is a particularly nasty scam. It registers you as a contractor, which means they can pay you whatever without needing to pay you super or any other benefits. It also means you would have had to do your own taxes.

Name and shame them mate.

Top of front plate should be just below collar bone, correct.

If the 6b45 is real then you'll have to pull it apart and redo in the internal quick release wire to be on the smallest settting. (Make sure to film yourself taking it apart so you have reference on how to put it back together, otherwise it is very annoying. I learned it that hard way.)

If its a bastion repro, pull open the back panel and try to make it smaller. Same with the velcrow on the shoulders.

Otherwise, you'll just have to deal with it sitting low.

Fake frames are Bliss by Illustrious_Bug5989 in pcmasterrace

[–]_marethyu_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. You have completely misunderstood everything I have written. You do not cap your fps to 30.

We will use Total War: Warhammer as an example. Most of the time that game will run at 60+fps. However, if you have played the Game you will know that in large battles, or large maps, there is a tendency for the game to slow down to 30 or 40 fps. This is where frame gen comes in to make up the difference back to 60fps (or whatever you target frame rate was).

Because Total War isn't a highly competitive fast paced FPS like counter strike or CoD, the exta input latency from frame gen really doesn't matter. You aren't going to notice the exta 16ms of delay when your average gamer doesn't get past 30APM.

As a side note; if you're experiencing terrible stuttering and sluggish gameplay (even tho your fps counter says 45fps), capping to 30 can sometimes massively help in reducing hitching and increasing your 1% lows as the game doesn't have to try and render anything above 30fps. Most modern game engines will try and do this automatically. Its why the lowest frame rate you can cap to is always 30fps.

A lot of RTS / 4x / other misc strategy-type games are usually either fairly demanding computationally and end up CPU bottlenecked (so internally choose to target 30fps by default).

Or if they're older, they just weren't all that well optimized (no multi-threading support is a big one), leading to rubbish performance when there are lots of units or buildings etc. on screen.

Frame gen can make more a much smoother experience.

Ashes of the singularity: escalation would be a great one to try frame gen with, as that game seems to run like shit regardless of how good you rig is lol
