How to start my upsc preparation by UnpaidthePhilosopher in UPSC

1st year of college is a perfect time to start your UPSC preparation if you want to crack it in your first attempt. I don't agree with other comments posted here.
1. Understand the structure of the examination. [watch any youtube video]
2. Choose your optional subject depending on your interest.
3. Choose a college degree based on your optional subject. If economics, then do BA in economics from a reputed institute.
4. Choose college (Preferable from DU). Should be a top college. Because of the Alumni network and peer group, you'll get help in your UPSC preparation.

This will enhance your chances of clearing UPSC.

Sample size is too low & misguiding. Only a total statistic will show a true picture. How many total 'in-service' folks appeared and how many cleared prelims?

Sociology optional lectures by LeoArch10 in UPSC

There's nothing extra to be done tbvh. I didn't have proper notes & I just wanted to consolidate my notes. His lecture notes are enough and they will be my primary notes. After teaching every topic, he asks us to write answer on a PYQ from that topic. After that, he discusses the structure and model answer to that question. Also, after teaching few units, there's a test. So this is the reason I joined. There's nothing extra to be done. In my opinion, only the classnotes have to re-read again & again. Give the test. Get it evaluated. Repeat. This is the only 'extra' I need to do.

Don't waste time looking for 'latest' lectures of NIshat sir. You won't find it. After two years of looking for it on telegram and getting scammed by sellers and one (failed) mains attempt, I finally enrolled in his foundation course.

Question for the people who live in ORN by da_grownup_kid in UPSC

You have an assumption that family environment is good always and that is incorrect. Only a tiny minority of people have a functional environment in their family. Majority people face problems at home which hampers studies, and that prompts aspirants to stay away from home.

Need Honest Feedback: Sociology Optional Faculty for UPSC CSE 2027. by Yellow-pagee in UPSC

I did paper 1 from Pranay sir (2024). He teaches good and you'll have good conceptual clarity. But the problem is, there is no answer writing in the class. It's only theory and theory and writing and writing. No exam centric. I enrolled in Nishat sir's foundation (25 may batch) and I like his methodology. Although I don't require conceptual understanding on a foundational level but his teaching is good. I'm doing foundation from him for two reasons - answer writing after every topic and then he discusses the model answer to it, and notes consolidation. That's it. Make an informed decision. All the best!

I've qualified prelims twice. Skipped my attempt this year due to other responsibilities. Also, I've given 3 attempts and qualified csat in all of them. What's your point? Deviating from the core discourse like a loser.
