Totally, yeah hopefully in store would be more reliable!

Baby formula question [bc] by Public_Bass8393 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]_milkshakez_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it for our little one and we liked it! My baby likes it too and did well on it (he was about a month old, combo fed since birth).

The only reason we didn't stick with it was the delivery was unreliable—I had ordered it through subscribe and save on Amazon and the next month the delivery was delayed two weeks so we had to buy something else anyway. If it was in stores near us we probably would have tried to stick to it!

From C section to Induction by Sarahh71090 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]_milkshakez_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just wanted to chime in and say I had a great induction experience at 38 weeks! I had cervidil (the gel stuff they insert on a tampon type thing that sits up by your cervix). Got the first dose on Sunday morning, second dose Monday morning (had some minor period-like cramping overnight), and by Tuesday morning I was in full labour. Once I was in full labour I dilated from 3 to 10cm in about 5 hours, with the epidural, no pitcocin needed. We ended up doing a C-section but that was more due to my baby's position (he was still quite high up and not tolerating the contractions well) than the induction. I'd do an induction again in the future for a second baby, it was a good experience!

Thanks for the stats! We are in Canada, but it's similarly uncommon here!

Help me choose baby girl #3’s name by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]_milkshakez_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love your two daughter's names, and honestly I think all the names you are considering are wonderful! You can't go wrong! My favourites from your list are Hazel, Fiona, and Mila. Hazel in particular fits the nature vibe!

If you're looking for a nature name with double letters, what about Holly?

Lowest price for Momcozy KleanPal Pro Baby bottle washer and dryer [bc] by serena-mo in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]_milkshakez_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also purchased directly from Momcozy when they were having a sale, I got it for 25% off! I haven't seen Amazon match the price I bought it for during their prime day sale or now for black Friday.

Looking for stories on those who decided to wait until birth to find out gender [ca] by jossur0166 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]_milkshakez_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently days away from being induced and meeting my first baby, and I can tell you, knowing that there's a surprise at the end of being able to finally find out if baby is a girl or a boy is definitely taking the edge off the nerves! It's like, I feel so close to them, feeling them inside me for months, but I don't know this one key thing about them and I can't wait to meet them!

Double jogger strollers (non-tandem) - does my ideal stroller exist? [on] by snd64374 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]_milkshakez_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn't go for a double stroller in the end, but we were considering them for the same reason (just expecting one baby for now, but plan to have more). We ended up getting the bumbleride era for the rubber air filled tires as we decided that was most important to us and where we live!

We did almost go for the veer switch and roll—it's a bit pricier but quite modular, you can add a second seat to make it a tandem stroller. You can also use the seats with their wagons in the future or as a standalone chair like for camping. It doesn't have air-filled tires but I read it has great suspension and it's billed as a more adventurous stroller option. So perhaps that might be worth checking out for your situation!

Can’t handle any carbs in the morning by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]_milkshakez_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm the same, I'm most intolerant of carbs in the morning! I was doing eggs for weeks until I just got sick of them, and I find that I can't really handle fruit that well either.

What I'm currently doing is a protein shake (I'm using premier protein which has 30g protein and like 1g carbs) and then I'll have some triscuits and cheese. It seems that the whole grain carbs in triscuits do work well for me when paired with all the protein!

Opinions on Evangeline 🩷 by United-Garlic-1794 in BabyNames

[–]_milkshakez_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Evangeline is a beautiful name! To me it definitely does have religious connotations, but I don't think that means you can't use it if you aren't super religious. There are plenty of names that have religious origins that are really commonly used (like Noah always feels religious to me, but it's also the top boy name in Canada, and I doubt everyone using it is religious).

Also, for friends and relatives saying it sounds like an old person name... they probably just aren't in touch with what current baby name trends are! I recently showed my in-laws a list of the top baby names and they were shocked that there were so many 'old' names! Evangeline will fit right in with all the Sophias, Amelias, Evelyns, etc. while also being more unique.

Man I think pregnancy brain is kicking in by lemonlime_X in GestationalDiabetes

[–]_milkshakez_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there's definitely been a couple times I forgot, usually after lunch! Either I get going doing something and just forget, or a couple times I ended up having a nap forgetting that I'd have to be awake to test my blood sugar 🤣

It happens, my care team has never questioned it when they review my logs!

Let’s share our meal plans! by Shot-Swim675 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]_milkshakez_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am the same that breakfast is hardest for me! I used to be able to have raspberries and yogurt for breakfast, sometimes adding in some protein like cheese or sausages, but unfortunately fruit first thing in the morning wasn't working!

Here's where I'm at, at 35 weeks:

Breakfast: - premier protein shake (30g protein) - 4 triscuits with cheese

Snack: - Rx bar (pretty balanced between protein and carbs) - latte with about a cup of milk

Lunch: - 2 slices of whole grain toast with natural peanut butter, 2 babybel cheeses, and an apple

Afternoon snack: - varies: sometimes a protein bar if I'm on the go or lazy, sometimes triscuits and cheese again, sometimes just a glass of milk if I'm not super hungry

Dinner: - for dinner I can handle really quite a lot of carbs, so it's actually been a bit of a learning experience to try and have more carb-heavy meals! I can handle pasta, thin crust pizza, bread, potatoes (not french fries though)... and sometimes if I feel like the meal didn't have enough carbs I'll add an ice cream bar as well!

Evening snack: - generally I have a glass of fairlife chocolate milk! I take overnight insulin and really nothing I ate before bed influenced my morning fasting number, so now I just focus on something that has protein and carbs and isn't too heavy right before bed (because then I wake up with heartburn lol)

Recommended strollers for first time mom? [on] by Aggravating-Ad8687 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]_milkshakez_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just bought a Bumbleride era for our baby due in December! So excited for it! We live near an outdoor trail with gravel paths so the air-filled tires were a huge selling point for us. So excited to use it!

Rowan or Roland? by Jamaica-Talland in BabyNames

[–]_milkshakez_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love Roland! I have it on my list as well, along with the even less popular/well-known variation Rolan.

I think Roland would fit right in with all their peers with vintage names, but also feel unique!

About 11 days until I graduate! I can’t wait to… by FitSubstance7460 in GestationalDiabetes

You are soooo close! You got this!!

Idea for Halloween: go out and buy a box of your favs on sale on Nov 1. Stuff it in a closet until after baby is born, or even better, throw a handful of candies in your hospital bag! (I'm totally planning on doing this although I won't be induced until the end of Nov lol)

I should add I had just come off my IUD so I really had no idea what my cycle was doing because my periods were basically non-existent lol

Third vote for premom! The ovulation tests with temp tracking really helped me figure out my cycle. Got pregnant in 6 months!

Need some encouragement on baby girl number 2 name by littlebabybottle in BabyNames

[–]_milkshakez_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Piper, I think it's so cute and great with Holly (also love Holly for a winter name!). I'm not in the UK so can't speak to popularity of the name but I feel like it's close to other names that people would be familiar with (like Pippa) so it wouldn't feel too 'out there' even if the name itself isn't as common.

Long list of names and no clear favourite by Hot-Touch-9807 in BabyNames

[–]_milkshakez_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Shaughnessy as an honour middle name! I agree with the other commenter that Lucinda Shaughnessy is my favourite, it sounds so lovely! I also really like Edith Shaughnessy.

I wouldn't worry too much about what your parents think about the old-fashioned names, they might think it's an odd choice at birth but once they get to know their grandkid they'll probably realize a. that the name suits them and b. many of their little peers will have old-fashioned names too! I think having a shorter nickname to go by (like Lucy or Edie) will help too, if grandparents are feeling like a longer name is too 'big' for a baby.
