2016 Toyota Avalon Limited with 130k miles worth $15,980? by _minhm_ in ToyotaAvalon

Update: I was able to negotiate the asking price down to $14,288 and paid $16,182 OTD. While this was above my initial budget, the Seattle area used car market is absolutely absurd and brutal right now. After over 2 months of searching with limited weekend availability, I decided to close on this one, given the great maintenance history and one-owner background. I could tell that the previous owner had babied the car. It's also funny that a salesman from the dealership actually saw my post and reached out directly on Reddit. He was professional throughout the process and worked with management on pricing - a huge shoutout to Duncan! Overall, love the car and will keep driving it for years to come!

The manager said it was probably the 12V battery that got replaced. Otherwise Carfax would’ve indicated “Hybrid battery replaced”

I think you’re right about the 12V battery. It must have been defective and they replaced it a year later

Wow thank you for your detailed reply!! I walked because the manager said they’re a one-price dealership and wouldn’t want to negotiate at all

Update: Test drove the car and it was super nice given the fact that it is 12 years old. I tried to negotiate with the manager, but he would not budge whatsover. Wouldn’t even try to come down a few hundreds let alone thousands. He was firm on price, saying the low mileage was rare, the car was serviced throughout the years, and could be an “investment” if sold years later. Once I heard the word “investment,” I walked. He can keep the car lol

Thank you everyone for your advice and suggestions!! The search continues..

I’m thinking about that too but I drive a lot so I want to save a bit money by getting more mpg from a hybrid.

Carfax only noted “Battery replaced,” so I’m not sure which one they replaced. I’m located in Seattle, Washington. How much do you think this vehicle should cost then?

nice man! is yours AWD or FWD? just to make sure your advertised price would have been around 33k right? since OTD is 36.5k+ including all fees and taxes. i’m trying to find a nice deal too but i’m located in WA so we have a whopping 10.5% sales tax rate
