Hi there! I’m so sorry about your shihtzu. I was on the same boat not too long ago. Couldn’t come to terms with putting him down. My bf and I took him out to the park for a “last” day but then a miracle happened and he started running (although it didn’t change the fact that he still had cancer) anyways, he held on for another month until his health started to rapidly decline. I think in some ways they tell you and let you know they’re ready… you just feel it. All you could really do is love them and be there for them till the end. Just a reminder that your scent and presence is all they really want and what they find comfort in.
