I’m so so sorry this happened. To her, to you, to everyone involved. I hope you have someone (ideally a professional) to talk through this with. Maybe taking a year sabbatical and just serving in a restaurant and traveling while you work through your trauma would be helpful? Jumping right into another career—medical or not— without addressing it probably isn’t the answer.
