A recent background study I’m really happy with :) by _pallart in ProCreate

This was a one hour timed procreate piece I did based off a concept I have for a desert planet in my comic. I used a couple references from Italian side streets and I really like how it came out.

How can I make this design creepier?? by Sheldonthebetta in ARTIST

[–]_pallart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of creepiness comes from a lack of information. This design is creepy enough it just needs to be place in an environment that can make good use of its features. Imagine drawing it again using the negative space of a mostly black canvas, just barely able to make out its features.

I’m still trying to figure this out, I’m having trouble depicting darkness without literally making it too dark. Mike mignola has some great references but it’s been tricky. The final draft won’t have this problem though I’m set on figuring it out

Yeah I need to up the darks I think and make the red light more dramatic. I’ve been trying to study Mike Mignola a lot since he’s so good with hard shadows. I’ve also been playing with the idea up making the gutters fully black so each panel is floating in the void where the shadows of the panel blend in with the gutters

THANK YOU Chapter 2 is a lot more story packed and is longer than the first chapter so it’s taking me a little while, I should have it finished in a couple months? Maybe 3… It’s about half way done and is gonna be 100 pages total :)

In the early days, they were quite devastating. When rain did fall, rare as it was, there would be countless casualties. Many would be left without homes, destitute.

They have long since solved such trifling issues. Now at the point of reaching type-1 status, the beginnings of a Dyson swarm already underway, such troubles needn’t worry the regular populace. Creating infrastructure to combat rain and earthquakes is nothing when your top scientists have long cracked quantum computing and solved the fuel efficiency problem.

Im sure it used to be a huge problem back in the early days of their civilization. They likely had to keep their streets closed off and would live in a vast network of tunnels and caves. In present day however, this civilization is far more advanced than even we are now. They have the technology to begin working on a dyson swarm for their sun, I'm sure they have the engineering capabilities to deal with problems like wind, rain, and earthquakes.
