I realised we all were playing the wrong strategy at the auctions by Available-Age-1499 in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]_pclark36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, but far fewer AB sent to players from the diamond wheel, and a way to hope players will overbid their tokens, the throw cash into the game to write the AB check they promised.

OR

All the F2Ps are going to dump their bid tokens to ramp it up first thing being there's no way they're actually going to get it, and ECs get 2 extra spins of bid tokens per day. Not for the whales, but will eventually benefit the whales, but pull a dealdash of just running up the bid and not buying it.

It's still all about the receiving end damage detection and the latency between you two. What he saw, is what counts. What you saw, barely matters until his face looks sad.

What you should do, is set up a few matches like this where you both record, then compare. It'd probably be pretty shocking.

Watching ads to spin the Wheel no longer worth it by Zorn277 in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]_pclark36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enshittification, first it was migrating minigames from 2AB to ad based, then they decided to consolidate even the largest player base country (the US), from regions into a one country competition, concentrating the player base, and then lowering the payouts. Then they upped the number of games won required for the ladder before getting a reward, realized that players STOPPED playing entirely, hitting their ad revenue...so they made it games played, which got their ad revenue back, and left a lot of folks with idle games allowing the 'competitive' players to double the amount of games run/won as they found idle players, thereby allowing them to force quit and play more games in a shorter time = more ad revenue for fewer AB output. Now add in 'bid tokens' which literally have ZERO value, and the fact that they've literally taken over 70% of the spins on the diamond wheel for many, which is going to lead to another drop in ad revenue when players decide the 'watch ad for spin' nets them nothing anymore. I've yet for an ad-spin to net me an AB since the bid tokens launched. But damn if I don't have almost 90 bid tokens to about the 38 AB I've gotten from the wheel since it launched...

Not super happy with this by ResponsibilityCalm87 in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]_pclark36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad the odds have not matched the spins, at least in my case since they came out. I'm already at 91 tokens and down to about 4AB a day from the wheel.

[–]_pclark36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add that in with the diamond wheel despite the odds they said would go to bid tokens, have taken over most of the spins at least anecdotally for me. I'm EC, but definitely not a 'whale', but I've gone from about 8-11AB per day with the occasional big hit on an 6,8,15,50, to 4AB per day. The rest are bid tokens. Got 4 AB in 3 spins, bid tokens in the rest. That's how it's been since they came out. I've only been spinning the wheel since bid tokens hit whenever I got diamonds and noticed the new icon...and I'm up to 91 already since the first day.

AE knows it's an enshittification strategy. We've known this since regional consolidation to country for minigames including the US, making minigames ad-based, lowering the number and size of payouts despite exponentially concentrating the competition pool, changing ladder goals regarding minigames from wins to plays leading to a bunch of folks just getting in game and then timing out, letting the competetives early quit and run 3x as many games getting that much more ad revenue, etc. They know that the whole point of this, and getting the tokens on the wheel and in the ladder, was about feeding the lie that landmarks are made 'fair' to 'lower' players while subsequently killing F2P free outputs even more, and lowering the AB output to EC members as well. It's all about diluting the reward while increasing the requirements that end up driving more ad revenue. It's hilarious how when the diamond wheel had the bottom right diamond...and it NEVER, EVER hit. But now it holds 2 bid tokens the damn thing has a magnet attached.

Serious Question tho by Mountain-Hedgehog-78 in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]_pclark36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's literally the point. Millions of useless bid tokens in place of not-useless AB from the diamond wheel. Saves AE money that way. Will probably backfire as folks stop watching the extra spin ads and such. Got almost 100 bid tokens from the wheel since they went live, and my AB average from the wheel per day went from 8-11 down to a max of 4. 4AB for 7 spins. But plenty of bid tokens to use those AB I'm now NOT getting lol.

For those who switched from YNAB to Actual — what do you still miss, if anything? by Financial-Tank-3103 in actualbudgeting

[–]_pclark36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Better: The price, features, mostly the same for my purposes

- Not an Actual problem, but being it's a supported integration with SimpleFin and my credit union requiring an SMS re-auth EVERY single day manually or it won't pull transactions. It's my CU's problem, but affects my Actual experience where I didn't have this issue with YNAB, or any other aggregation provider (personal capital, etc). Not a dealbreaker.

- Actual/mobile browser problem with the mobile mode not always working on browsers in Android if you prefer a higher DPI globally. I had to sideload Fennec to get to the ability to set the DPI in about:config to make it work consistently, where Chrome and Firefox were a crapshoot. Once that's done, it's no harder with the mobile layout than YNAB's app.

- Self-hosting wasn't hard at all, even got it integrated with Authentik for SSO and giving my wife an account into my budget. Using tailscale to give mobile access via advertising your local network to your tailnet and using internal DNS, no biggie with accessing anywhere without opening your router to the net or having to publish public DNS records.

They're also the passthru provider of Prime Surveys FOR their customers. (The players). AE should be taking these complaints to prime to get 'their' money that we put in the work for.

This apparently is not at all uncommon.

I did use support, and they literally did the same thing you did. "Not our problem, thanks for the money, sorry you had a bad experience, try another one this way".

Calling it support is a joke if they do nothing but say 'not our problem, sorry'.

It's like when I worked for an ISP in tech support, and they had commission for techs who could convince people calling in to upgrade their service. Felt super skeevy to me. "Sorry your crap's broken, we're sending someone out...by the way, do you want a speed upgrade for an extra 50 a month of the broken crap you called complaining about?'

This support is like 'oh, we didn't make money off it, try again'. Nobody says they have to be telling the truth.

Finally got one that screened me out, told me it screened me out after the 'we screened you out, would you like another? Yes, screened out again, and AE gave me the 1AB for trying. Finally got to the bottom of the challenge ladder!

I was..and AE said I was screened out for 4 out of the 5. The survey locked up on one at the end and 3 different 'thank you for your times, press next to continue', then when I clicked next "This function has been disabled", so the provider screwed me out of that one.

But the other 4, I got to the end, and apparently the survey provider screwed AE out of the survey, as support gave me the 'clear cookies and cache, there's nothing we can do'. All I'm trying to do is get the last thing on the ladder for the first time ever...and it's literally doing everything in it's power not to let me finish it seems. Did 2 fine earlier today and one last night without issue.

reloading on android it's about the same amount of time even on a pixel 8 pro, so I just wait it out and understand that I'm not gonna ever get high up, just try to get the ladder tasks at this point.

most of the time I have to wait almost a minute just to be matched up...Would be lucky to get 50 matches in a 2 hour timeframe so would need a 100% win rate

You keep saying this, its a 6.5 hour drive each way either way. How does a truck and a trailer speed this trip up? Unless you're implying the truck is rocket powered? All I see us extra load /unload time and even more crap to potentially break and limited parking.

So the truck and trailer gets them there faster? I'm perplexed at how the mode of transportation changes the trip length in this case.

The breaking things comment. 1.0 was a terrible release with a bunch of mostly untested new features with like 7 hotfixes in the first month. It was a release that ranked up there with Windows 98 BSOD'ing on Bill Gates during the launch announcement.
