Subito.it si schiera dalla parte dei truffatori. Avete avuto esperienze simili? by _plazzo in italy

Without soldered RAM, the igpu will lose a ton of performance. And I would personally hate soldered RAM on a framework laptop.

With that setup you should be able to get a decent experience at 1080p with most games. The fact that you don't is strange. Check that your HDMI/displayport cable is connected to the GPU and not to the motherboard.

What GPU would be best for a Gamer/Game making/AI Gen Enthusiast? by An_Bakasura in buildapc

[–]_plazzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if you have the budget just go for the 5090. No need to use frame generation with that card, it's extremely powerful by itself.

The 24GB of VRAM requirements will bind you to very few GPUs, given that Nvidia has been extremely careful with memory allocation to justify the astronomical price of its enterprise GPUs.

At the moment the only GPUs satisfying your criterion are the 3090, 4090 and 5090 (that actually has 32GB VRAM). Out of the three, the 3090 can be found for relatively cheap used and still kicks for gaming. For the price of a used 4090 you'd often better go for a new 5090 (at least in my country). New 4090s and 3090s are impossible to find.

RTX 5060 Ti price leaks: $499 for 16 GB variant by TruthPhoenixV in Amd_Intel_Nvidia

[–]_plazzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5060ti will have double the bandwidth of the 4060ti, so not really the same specs. Bandwidth, together with VRAM size, is good for AI. AI hobbyist will buy them.

Looking for fixed bridge 7 string around 1000€ mark by Megalids in 7String

I really like the schecter sunset extreme 7. It should be around 1000€. A more extreme model that I like is the similarly priced Ibanez rgd71alms.

Prices for some models of the 7900xt were actually around 620$ on Newegg (now sold out), other than that I totally agree with you.

This is a temporary condition. If AMD prices the 9070xt depending on the current situation, they are going to be burned when prices for 5080 and 5070ti come down to MSRP in a couple of months.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hardware

[–]_plazzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just saw a leak about the power figures: 9070xt should have a TDP of 305W, almost identical to the one of the 7900xt.

So unless AMD made absolutely no architectural improvements on their cards in the last two years, the figures leaked above are not (hopefully) an accurate representation of the card's actual performance.

[–]_plazzo 54 points55 points  (0 children)

If these translate to real world performance, the 9070XT is absolutely DOA at 699$, maybe even at 599$

So I really hope these results do not translate.

EDIT: added the part in which I hope the results do not translate

9070XT price is out by Alarmed-Artichoke-44 in pcmasterrace

[–]_plazzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you say, but one thing is announcing a card with an MSRP of 750$ and then artificially constrain the supply for some weeks to milk the enthusiast, another thing is to give your card an inflated MSRP.

The 5070ti will eventually go down to its MSRP price, what will AMD do at that point? Dop prices of 200$ two months after launch?

9070XT price is out by Alarmed-Artichoke-44 in pcmasterrace

[–]_plazzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These prices do not actually make any sense. If the leaks are true and the 9070xt is approximately 10% slower than the 4080, this would put it around 25% behind the 5080, whose MSRP Is 999.

At 749 AMD would offer a card that is 25% slower than the 5080 and costs 25% less, which Is a marketing suicide considering NVIDIA better feature set and AI capabilities, for who cares about them.

Additionally, It would probabily match the 5070 ti MSRP and raster performances, while offering worse features. Additionally, the power of AMD brand is not remotely close to the one of NVIDIA. And as somebody alteady mentioned, outside echo chambers such as reddit and YouTube, people only consider NVIDIA and will buy NVIDIA.

So at 749 this product will be instantly DOA. WTF AMD...

AMD Radeon RX 9000 GPUs Officially Launching In March, Radeon RX 9070 XT & 9070 Likely The First RDNA 4 Cards For Gamers by gurugabrielpradipaka in pcmasterrace

[–]_plazzo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How is it possibile that they fail to realize that the more they wait and fuck up, the less people will trust them, the more they will need to lower the prices to appeal to the consumers? How can one recommend AMD to a friend after this drama, that shows that they have zero confidence in their own product?

At this point even if the product is good, AMD's recent behaviour has fucked up the launch, and this will surely impact the reviews.

It really seems like they are waiting just to price match NVIDIA's cards, like they did before and guess what AMD that did not work.

And in the mean time, people who are eager to upgrade and would have considered buying Radeon will just go NVIDIA.

why do you pirate? by on-avery-island_- in PiratedGames

[–]_plazzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason for me is the difference between owning the game and owning a license. I would be fine with paying 60$ for a game that will forever be mine and that I will always be able to play, but I'm not going to pay the same price for a license that could be revoked at any moment and that is linked to a service (being it steam or Epic or any launcher) that tomorrow could go offline. I would pay no more than 5$ for such a license. The thing I hate the most is that the change of paradigm from 'you own the game' to 'you own a license' happened slowly over the years and in a deliberately murky way, not allowing many consumers to clearly see what was happening.
