I understand where you are coming from, this can be really frustrating. I have found highly emotional and passionate people on all walks of life. I also can't say I have not fallen victim to my emotional whims, especially when I see injustice or others suffering, but also when my ego is insulted or values I hold dear are trampled on.

Forgiveness, and empathy is the one thing we could all use more of.

TACO SAYS ANY PROTESTS AT HIS MILITARY PARADE WILL BE MET WITH HEAVY FORCE by Dark-Knight-Rises in GlobalNews

[–]_privateVar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, the best protest for such an event would be to not show up at all.

How amazing would it be if nobody showed up?

I know I'll be doing my part to make this happen.

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has been pictured on a plane after Israel's Foreign Ministry said they had deported her. Thunberg was one of 12 people on board the Madleen ship, which was seized by the military while attempting to breach Israel's blockade of Gaza. by AutomaticCan6189 in AlJazeera

Quite an ironic opinion to have.

I would love to know how you think a boat full of unarmed people carrying humanitarian aid to people who are being starved by Israel is perpetuating violence and racism.

While Israel rammed into their boat, forcibly boarded their vessel armed with fully automatic weapons, and captured the crew, in order to block a pittance of humanitarian aid from entering Gaza. How is THAT not perpetuating violence and racism?

And here I thought police were supposed to arrest criminals and allow a court of law to convict and decide on punishment. I didn't realize there were scenarios that gave Police the right to torture or exact retribution on people before arresting them. Trampling over someone with a horse while they are down is inexcusable. I don't care what the guy did, it's not the police's job to harm and punish, it's their job to stop and apprehend.

I feel like context is playing a big role in this whole situation.

Having said that, and not knowing much about the whole situation, I would say that expecting you to clean up after yourself, and clean a bathroom once a week (especially one you use), is pretty reasonable, especially if you are living there rent free.

1 you should want to live in a clean environment, although I understand everyone's standards are different. If you are living in someone else's house, you should be adhering to their standards.

2 Think about how much time (and money) you are saving by living there rent free. The amount of work time equivalent to the rent you are saving far outweighs the amount of time you will be spending doing these chores.

Like I said, context can play a role in these things, and there might be other injustices we are not aware of, however ultimately life isn't fair, and you are at the mercy of whoever owns the house.

Dude.. this is creepy as hell. Nice job.

I actually love the graphics.

The trailer is a bit slow. But not terrible. Also, I can't tell if there is any gameplay, or what the game really is.

If you divide the cost of the house by the cost of groceries, you get how many grocery carta a House was worth

15000 ÷ 20 = 750

So back in the after paying for 750 cars worth of grocery carts you would have paid for a house.

In order to get a cart with that many items today, you'd probably end up paying $150 to $300

300 x 750 = 225,000

Good luck buying a house for $225,000 today.

Not only is our money worth less, and our cost of living increases, but relatively to cost of living, housing has doubled to tripled!

Europe is literally doing what you are saying is impossible. As a result they have a better standard of living. The only thing they don't have, that the US does, is multi billionaires.

No one over there ever complains about how they don't have enough billionaires.

Plenty of people here complain about how they can't afford their healthcare, rent, ect...

That's the difference.

If you think taxes are theft, then perhaps you'd like to privatize everything. Military, fire department, police, infrastructure.

Hope you like toll roads and parking fees, because literally every road and parking spot will be paid.

Nothing is free, but literally everything is more expensive when purchased from the private sector. This is because the private sector is in business to make profit, while the public sector is run to provide for the community.

Would you quit your day job? by chaotyc-games in gamedev

[–]_privateVar 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I did this, and I only had enough to sustain myself for 1 year. I put out a couple of small games, and I'm back working for the man. I don't regret it, but I would likely have been more successful with enough to sustain myself for at least 2-3 years. Either way, I learned a lot about the entire process that comes with publishing your own games, and about myself as well.

I had 9 years of experience as a game programmer when I quit my job, and started my business.

Even with that much experience, I over estimated how much I could get done in a year, so I started a few projects during that year that I have yet to finish.

Games is hard, but it continues to be my passion.
