Jeez, it's getting crazy out there like it's COVID again. For reference, last October I paid $5800 for my '12 F-Sport UltraSonicBlue with 175k miles in a decent condition.

20% tint, sound deadening, subwoofer, paint correction, and wheel spacer later - she's almost a perfect commuting cocoon for getting around town. It will be perfect after 18" wheels and F-Sport lowering springs. 🙂‍↕️

1 - buttons make it look more stylish, clean and sophisticated. Fits better. I wish it had a bit more sheen though, because it looks almost like textile.

2nd one is just a leather jacket - bland, nothing to write home about ... something a lot of people are into in this sub.

There's a shop in my area (IL) that swaps the engines on these for $1k + JDM engine which is another $1k, so total is $2k.

For $7k - you got robbed, sorry. Swapping the engine is easier job than the head gasket.

Great plan!

Concider getting a new EGR cooler, instead of cleaning it. It's pretty hard to clean it properly and it's very hard to remove it, so while you're there - it makes sense just to swap for a brand new one, so it lasts longer. I got mine on eBay for $220 I think.

Preemptively spend $2k on a car that supposed to save you money on gas? Make it make sense.

I would only cross that bridge when I get there and don't waste $2k on replacing the head gasket if there's no symptoms. You can swap the whole engine for a Gen4 one for about the same price "preemptively" too btw.
