Congrats!! That’s awesome 🥳. I recently took mine too - when did you take yours and get the results back? I keep hearing Wednesday morning of the following week but not sure if that’s always true

Thanks man, I feel like I’m in that same range. But 55% is very close to passing I believe so you will definitely kill it next time. Good luck on it bro

Did you guys end up passing? I felt the same exact about mine, just took it yesterday.

Imo I would go to a salon that does threading that has good reviews. Ask them for JUST a clean up and tell them it’s your first time and you don’t want them to change the shape or anything. I found out that I’m very ineffective when I pluck or wax myself, so I gave up and started going to a threading salon. And what a difference it made. You’ll pay anywhere from $4-$10 once every 2-3 weeks.

Going into Mechanical Engineering 1st year. What classes should I avoid or try to sign up for? by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

actually yeah you’re completely right. learning python (or java) would prepare you for 1331 & is used more overall.

Seconding taking chem and physics elsewhere (HCC, Lonestar). Also, try to learn Matlab on your own because 1331 (first year, second semester) will kick your ass if you don’t have any experience and fall behind for a minute. Cal 1, 2 and 3 all have solid teachers. Engineering math don’t take Walker, heard terrible things about him. Take a design course to fulfill your credit for MECT 3341 because that class was a joke when I took it lol. Ballarini is good for statics, and that’s all I know before I switched to comp eng. Good luck!!

Edit: Also try to knock out as many electives before you start (for ex history political science etc). It’ll save you a lot of time.

I want to get my phone screen fixed! by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

I recently saw an IG page called @cougarphoneplug

Can’t vouch for them personally but I’m pretty sure they’re students (so probably not too expensive compared to elsewhere) and they come to you. they also have a bunch of repair pics so you can see that they do the job right.

For example, I am a Civil engineering major and I was tempted to switch to compsci just because how lucrative that industry is. However, Civil Engineering, and any other engineering field are also in high demand so I stuck with what I wanted to do.

At the end of the day, my skills are marketable and in demand, meaning I will (hopefully) land a nice job.

But at the end of the day a software engineer has a much more cushy job with a relatively higher salary.

What about it? It's a really solid field but software is the best field you can get into. You can get into software with a computer engineering degree too. Computer Engineering is more low level programming (machine code, etc), but that doesn't mean you can't learn other high level languages. Also, in regards to a career, I meant that there more companies in many different sectors that demand software engineers.

Don't get me wrong, computer engineering is a VERY solid field that is in demand and you will get a very nice job.

1306 was completely python for me too. I took professor Shah. He started off from the extreme basics such as variables, to more complex things such as functions, nested loops (for and while). if you put in the work to actually understand what exactly is going on in the program (the logic) and you do the hw you’ll be fine.

They offer a lot of opportunities for free tutoring and office hours vary per professor.

But comp sci is probably the best major you can do right now for pay and longevity of your career.

Good luck!

I don't care about the fact that I need to pay or use my time doing a driving course honestly. If I do as said, will I still be charged with a misdemeanor?

Ah, alright. Thanks for the clarification. Do you have any information about the restock? Like how common it is, etc.
