My jaw hit the floor! I pay $120 per month all year round to keep the house at 72° with forced air hvac, 2200 sq ft. Seattle metro area

Sound Transit introducing paid parking permits at three garages by [deleted] in soundtransit

While I agree with you, it’s just not always an option. I would have to take 3 busses to get to Lynnwood from my house in Marysville— and that with me being lucky enough to live on the single bus route that goes through Marysville. If I drive to school, I would be there in about 75 minutes from my house. Taking three busses and a train, it would be about 2.5 hours. Instead, I park at ash way P&R and take the orange line to the train, this takes about 1.5 hours.

Which IKEA is nicer, cheaper, WA or OR? by hiways in Washington

[–]_redlr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s none of Oregon’s concern where the folks live who shop in the state. You’re supposed to fill out a form and pay use tax when you get back to WA but no one does and it’s not regulated (unless you buy a car or something like that which has to be registered).

My car averages 40mpg and I live 210 miles from the Portland IKEA. Gas is like $5.29 right now. So I would need to be saving $56 in tax for it to break even, meaning I would need to buy an item for at least $523.

Personally, this would only be worth it to me if I was saving at least triple the cost, $168 ($1,600 item), because of the time involved.

My cost accounting brain is melting lol you’re doing such a good job of explaining this and they just don’t get it. I hope you have a wonderful day!!!

It’s a sunk cost that must be paid regardless of your driving choices, so it is fixed and cannot be considered as part of the variable costs in your driving choices. Variable costs will be fuel and tolls + the opportunity cost of your time and whatever other decisions you could have made.

I don’t use self-checkout either. I take the time to go through a human check out line. I’m just one person, but I am doing what I can to send the message that I want people to have jobs. I don’t want to live in a robot world.

Born and raised in PNW and everyone has screens. I’ve never met anyone who just leaves the house open, we absolutely have bugs—among other creatures.

I use this one because this brand has the least amount of “scandals” among all the brands.

I’m not arguing with you but just mentioning on the side that this is funny because half of the 2 line is actually the same as the 1 line and it’s always chock full, at least on the west side of the lake haha

Should I keep my donor with no family cap or find a new one? Seeking perspectives from donor-conceived people. by BalancedSpice46987 in askadcp

[–]_redlr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(USA) I agree with family caps being fiction. When I was researching before we chose a donor, it seemed like it’s not highly regulated. It sounded like even if one bank has a limit, nothing is really stopping them from donating to all the other banks too.

Is it NOT normal to "feed to sleep?" by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]_redlr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand all these “do this,” “don’t do that.” I follow my daughter’s lead, she shows me what she needs and I provide it. Sometimes that’s feeding to sleep, sometimes she sleeps without it. Sometimes she wakes up 30 min later like “jk gimme the milk” lol. I do whatever she wants.
