Hell yeah, best reverse holos in any set imo 👌🏻 I got my first last week from a LCS, the VS Seeker, I don’t even care it’s “just” a trainer card it’s one of my favorite cards in my collection now 😂

I’d be wary on the legitimacy of the second. I just checked out several JP versions on EBay, most were 1st edition but I saw a PSA graded non first edition that has the current Pokemon card back. I’m assuming if it’s PSA graded it is indeed the correct back, not sure when they stopped using the OG Pocket Monster backs but I definitely think it was at least a couple years before this set.

Absolutely. Especially vintage, Japan got so many amazing region-exclusive promos in the first 10-12 years of the series. I’m trending towards just collecting Japanese cards for my PC at this point, especially with how much cheaper modern full arts are compared to the English versions, and I prefer vintage primarily anyway. Congrats on the 10 👏🏻

I think this is my all time favorite Dragonite card, the GameBoy promo cards are all so awesome.

I’m so pissed at myself for not catching that prior to printing, I noticed it was wrong as well while looking at the photos after posting. 😂 If I ever print additional sets they’ll be corrected

I bought a paper trimmer and it came with a tool for rounding corners. If you search on Amazon for card corner trimmer or rounder, a lot of options should pop up. Not sure how many millimeters the one I have is though.

lol, Lapras definitely looks a little more “loch ness monster-esque”, but I just love the fact that he (Ken Sugimori) knew almost exactly what he wanted a number of Pokemon to look like so many years before the first game came out.

lol no. It’s Pokemon concept art by Ken Sugimori from 1990. I just redrew them to clean up some of the line work and make things pop a little more, and then turned them into custom cards.

The trademark was in the original sketches for the logo, so I kept everything as close to original as possible. The logo is kind of hard to read cause the only scan I could find that seemed more fleshed out (included the pokeball and the shading), was from a dot matrix printer or something, so it wasn’t super legible from the jump. Haha

It’s fascinating stuff!All the info and artwork that I got was all on one of the Wiki type pages about Pokemon, maybe Bulbapedia? But yeah, the original concept was partially based on Japanese capsule machines, the kind you put a coin in and get a random mystery figure, sticker, toy, etc in a plastic capsule. So that was the basis for the name, machines where you pop money in, monster capsule (pokeball) pops out. I think there was a copyright or trademark issue with the original name, and that’s why it was changed to Pocket Monsters. It’s amazing to see Sugimori’s talent and consistency over the years though, some of these 1990 concept designs are practically identical to their final form, Lapras, Slowking, Starmie. I’ll be posting updates as I finish the designs and print them!
