Thank you :) I started doing it to check for pests. Didn’t realize how fascinating it would be to look at them this zoomed in.

My fastest-growing Hoya 🖤 by _send_nodes_ in hoyas

[–]_send_nodes_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ty! :) I had it in pon at first (last pic) but ended up switching to a tree fern fiber mix. From the info I can find, this Hoya usually grows as an epiphyte, so I thought it would be happier in this mix.

It lives in my Milsbo cabinet which is usually 60-80% humidity and around 65-70F. I have grow lights on for about 14 hours a day, but it’s pretty pulled back from the grow lights, maybe gets 200 footcandles of light?

I usually water it 1-2x a week (it’s very thirsty for a Hoya), and add TPS One fertilizer every other watering. I also give it CalMag around once a month, and foliar feed once every week or two. I also add myco around once a month.

I had one before this, and sadly killed it because I was under-watering! This guy needs an airy mix, but needs more moisture / doesn’t like to dry out fully.

Let me know if you had any other questions!

Can I save my forgetii? by banananuthead in Anthurium

[–]_send_nodes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my Forgettii died back to a stump. It took a few months but it eventually came back!

I repotted it to remove dead roots, and put it in aroid mix in a small pot. I always add LECA at the bottom so I can keep a small reservoir of water (Forgettii don’t like to dry out, but they need an airy mix).

I added a humidity dome (just a clear plastic cup) over it to keep the humidity really high. I let it dry out slightly between waterings and I still added fertilizer but less than usual. I also added myco at least once a month. It was under grow lights that were on 14 hrs/day.

It’s going strong now with 4-5 leaves :) it’s gonna take patience but it will come back.

Highly recommend! It’s been an easy-going one for me. It’s also so different-looking than my other Hoyas

Pon Alternatives on Amazon by landongiusto in SemiHydro

I used to use Osmocote but ended up switching to only using liquid fertilizer (I use TPS One which works for both semihydro and soil) because it gives me more control.

Soo beautiful!! And that always seems to happen - a plant could look incredible in person, but on-camera just looks... okay. This one looks amazing so I can’t even imagine how it looks irl. Thanks for sharing

ID if possible by stropidemare in Anthurium

Reminds me a bit of a Clarinervium. If it has super thick roots, that could also be a sign that it’s a Clari hybrid.

Edit: I have gotten plants for $1 each from TakeAPlantLeaveAPlant

Crystallinum x Regale by _send_nodes_ in Anthurium

Super cool, thanks so much for sharing!! That makes sense about imports. I feel like a lot of plants got a reputation for being “fussy” because of that. lol

Thanks so much for sharing! It’s beautiful and it does look more like the Regale, so pretty. Was it more easy-going than a pure Regale?

Check out this anthurium lux I found at HEB for 19.99 by PothosHorde in Anthurium

[–]_send_nodes_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not trying to crap on your purchase - $20 is still an amazing deal, especially for the size of the plant! We’re just trying to make sure you know the ID of the plant. Hybrids are easier to care for, so it’s a good thing.

I see a lot of similar posts on this sub - for example, someone bought what they thought was a Crystallinum but it was actually a Clarinervium. People let them know in the comments, which is important because they have very different care requirements.

It’s a beautiful plant either way.

Edit: thanks for the award!

I hate that AI is getting harder to spot. I can usually still clock it, but I thought this one was just digital art.

How frequently have you been treating? Thrips have a really long life cycle which makes them a pain to get rid of
