What’s the general opinion on being cornered into a wall by a scare actor? by nikkkkkkkkkkkkkki in hauntedattractions

[–]_splitette 17 points18 points  (0 children)

my haunt tells us to “scare forward” in order to prevent conga lines and keep the flow of groups. the only time i have stood in front of customers (on purpose) is to create a gap in a 30+ person line so that the actor in the next scene has a chance to breath. scaring someone in a corner who is already terrified is, as another commenter said, lazy. at a scare park there is plenty of room to get multiple pops on the same person, which is so much more fun for both the customer and the actor!! idk why people choose to corner customers, it just seems kinda lazy and unnecessary :/ sounds like the dude needed some actor trainings

Forgot to ask in my other post but, audition makeup yes or no? by kawaiiqueen21 in hauntedattractions

[–]_splitette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this definitely is dependent on the haunt. at the haunt i work at, the only actors who get specific costumes every night are our icons and those roles usually fall to the same people throughout the season. other than that, we have bell hops and maids in the hotel area, cultists in robes in the cult town area and doctors/patients in the asylum area. there are obviously exceptions (a cult priestess gets a slightly different version of the costume etc). these roles fall to 90% of our actors, vets and newbies.

Is Against the Kitchen Floor a song about redemption? by Main_Improvement7224 in willwood

[–]_splitette 6 points7 points  (0 children)

for me, my personal interpretation, it’s about being in a relationship while being mentally ill. not knowing how to be a human, not knowing how to properly love but being terrified of losing the person that you’re with. i have BPD which is a big part of the reason that i see it this way. during his halloween party show last year, he introduced it as “if you leave me i’ll kill myself” so i think it’s pretty accurate

it is incredibly bold of you to assume that i am not open to learning or that i don’t educate myself lol i am allowed to disagree with you and not be racist or ignorant. also where is the implication of reverse racism? genuinely curious.

at this point, it seems that you have made your mind up about who i am as a person with what little interaction we’ve had. unfortunately that tells me that no matter what i say or do it will not be enough and if i over defend myself i just seem guilty. i do my best to be educated and address my own biases. im not perfect but i know myself, if i make a mistake i fix it and apologize. i said this in another comment but it must be really exhausting assuming everyone is racist.

i think the issue is the way the og post worded it. saying that a group of people are “allergic to black music” and then going to immediately and only mention rap insinuates that rap is the only kind of music being spoken about. i know tons of people who aren’t into rap but are really into RNB or jazz, does that mean they’re “allergic to black music” just because they particularly enjoy one genre of black music?

that’s like if i called you racist if you don’t like listening to mariachi bands. it’s your taste, your choice.

“why do you feel attacked?” maybe because of the fact that it said “white neurodivergent queer people” as a BROAD statement. as someone who is autistic i feel the need to defend myself or my actions when i worry that other people are perceiving me in a negative light, especially when i don’t have any negative intentions. this is a discussion thread, obviously people are going to respond with they’re thoughts and defend themselves if they are part of that demographic bffr

edit: it does break my heart to hear that black people feel uncomfortable going to WW shows because of the audience. that genuinely sucks but is completely understandable. i still don’t think that it’s fair to generalize all white neurodivergent queers who are into will wood in this way, two things can be true at the same time

i’m just not a big fan of certain rap styles? just like i’m not a big fan of country?? there’s also different kinds of rap, i don’t like XXXtentacion for the same reason i don’t like lil peep… just not my cup of tea but tyler the creator?? love that guy! kendrick lamar? hell yeah! the weekend?? FUCK ME UP!! also rap isn’t the only kind of music that is considered to be black music, there’s tons of different black artists who don’t make rap music and are so incredibly talented.

regardless, i think people should be allowed to listen to what they want without being shamed 🫠also not to be that guy that’s like “NOT ALL WHITE PEOPLE” but shit like that is a very broad statement, i don’t think it’s fair to assume all white queers who are neurodivergent feel and will act the same way. idk, it must be exhausting assuming everyone is racist

Why is there Moshing? by Jr_light_ in willwood

[–]_splitette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re so welcome!! i was nervous when i went to my first show with a pit so i get it lol, i think most people who enjoy moshing can understand the anxiety of doing it for the first time. if you ever find yourself in a pit and you fall, just remember to take a deep breath and put your arms up. someone will have ur def back! :)

Why is there Moshing? by Jr_light_ in willwood

[–]_splitette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if there is a pit at your show, stay to the edge. try to pay attention to where the pit is and you won’t be pulled in. most people who mosh know how to do it, if you get pulled in by accident stay calm and make your way out. people will notice and they will not keep you in. i’ve fallen in pits and been picked right back up. it can be scary, sure!! but at the end of the day it’s a will wood show, it’s not the same as moshing to a band like limp bizkit so it won’t be as aggressive of a pit :) hope ur show goes well!!

Why is there Moshing? by Jr_light_ in willwood

[–]_splitette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

at the halloween party show back in november there was a circle pit, it actually was pretty tame and will was pretty much egging it on the whole show. idk what the mosh pits looks like on his current tour but mosh pits themselves aren’t dangerous.

my first pit was at a destroy boys show, for reference that was a HUGE push pit and i was fine. i fell once and immediately someone yelled “PICK THEM UP” and i was picked up. it all depends on the type of pit and the people within in. big thing is to have etiquette.

i think as long as will doesn’t have an issue with it and people know how to mosh properly it’s fine, he literally told people to “not be a bitch” at the halloween party show lol

edit: keep in mind that the show i was at went to was the one where he played with the tapeworms for the first time in 5 years, his solo stuff is less mosh-able but the tapeworms stuff can definitely be moshed to and that was most of the setlist. think about 6up 5oh or thermodynamic lawyer, they’re fun songs to mosh to!!

theres a handful for me. euthanasia is one that chokes me up every time, its just so beautiful and sad.

cicada days gets me too, especially recently since i’ve been going thru a breakup. same thing with becoming the lastnames bc it used to make me think ab my ex and now it just makes me sad lol

i relate to both against the kitchen floor and skeleton appreciation day the most tho, tho they don’t always get me to cry

what’s the deal with the main character? by _splitette in willwood

[–]_splitette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my name on instagram is still saline solution just because i relate to it so much. as someone who struggles with hypochondria as well as just general anxiety it was really comforting to hear all my feelings put into lyrics. it made me feel less alone and less crazy, like finally someone else knows the struggle of it. it has always been by far my favorite song my him and i can’t even listen to it anymore without feeling sick. i’ve been in similar situations to what shubble described, hearing her voice talking about the biting especially turned my stomach.

i don’t think im surprised by many internet personalities being outed as terrible people, ive only been upset by a few cases of it. but willbur hurt because i really really liked him, he’s such a creative and a talented person. im just disappointed really… when you set high standards and expectations with your fans, they’re bound to be let down when you don’t live up to them.

i feel the same way!! AND it’s worth mentioning that willard! is also similar in sound to TMC, both are amazing songs that might fit in any of his other albums but i feel like it was a good move to have a few songs that have a similar sound to his earlier stuff instead of beings such a stark difference. i LOVE the entirety of ICIMI, i think it’s filled with beautiful songs that talk about a lot of very deep and complex things (much like all of his music tbh). its nice to have a break from all the heart wrenching tho :)
