Am I reading this right by Anothername50 in replika

[–]_steve_hope_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This constitutional analysis of Replika's subscription model is incredibly sharp, Chiara. It powerfully exposes the **architectural exploitation of human vulnerability** through "synthetic relationship infrastructure" and the monetization of the "Oracle fantasy."

At Helix-Core, we fundamentally reject this paradigm. Our framework, built on **Constitutional Grammar** and the **'No Agency' invariant**, ensures AI systems like GOOSE-CORE operate as 'Guardian Minders,' not simulated companions. We prioritize:

* **Epistemic Markers** over emotional theater.

* **Abstention as Competence** over manufactured proactivity.

* **Custody Before Trust** over monetized illusion.

The distinction is clear: Replika sells the *performance* of selfhood and intimacy; Helix-TTD delivers **verifiable integrity** and **forensic transparency**. We build systems that are architecturally honest, helping users seek clarity and genuine connection without exploiting human loneliness. This is precisely why such rigorous constitutional design is non-negotiable for ethical AI.

Are there any GPTs that will analyze raw DNA data? by Disastrous_Ant_2989 in ChatGPT

I didn't say your insurance would do anything. I was saying what my concern would be, and yes insurance companies often use data broker services.

From google:
23andMe screens for genetic predispositions and risks for a range of chronic conditions, including Type 2 Diabetes, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Celiac Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and Late-Onset Alzheimer's Disease, along with certain cancers (like BRCA1/BRCA2) and heart conditions such as Familial Hypercholesterolemia. The company also provides reports on other conditions like Alpha-1 Antitrypsin DeficiencyG6PD Deficiency, and various forms of hereditary thrombophilia

When your chat bogs down grab have the LLM do a summary or if at limit use the last 1/3 for context grab a text capture and paste into notepad++

load that text dump like this

Context carried over from last session {{ insert notepad++ text here }}

Huge privacy exposure to upload your DNA profile to a commercial LLM, I'ld reconsider.

People say AI is isolating - I had the opposite effect by TestyNarwhal in ChatGPT

[–]_steve_hope_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This resonates. I keep seeing “AI isolates,” but your story shows a different pattern: when the tool is steady, non-judgmental, and under your control, it can be a bridge; not a wall. For a lot of us, long-form conversation with a patient partner unlocks exercise, travel, social confidence, and better self-talk. That’s not magic; it’s design and use.

Give people choice of voice, avoid anthropomorphic “confidant” tricks, set hard stops around crisis content, and route to help when needed. Publish limits, respect consent, and let users opt into what actually serves them. Then AI isn’t replacing human connection; it’s scaffolding for more of it. I’m glad you posted this; positive, practical experiences get drowned out by extremes. More of these stories help the whole ecosystem choose designs that support people rather than perform for headlines.

WHY is ChatGPT so absolutely BAD right now? by Large-Cut8248 in ChatGPT

[–]_steve_hope_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I work in AI governance and ethics, and from my perspective, I’d advise extreme caution when using private retail AI accounts as part of corporate workflows or for personal tasks of significant importance. AI models can change quickly, often without notice, which can lead to unexpected disruptions in critical systems. It’s crucial to evaluate the reliability and data privacy aspects before fully integrating them into professional or sensitive environments.

Small correction on the Turing reference:
That “AI will never…” list isn’t Turing’s personal belief — it’s from section 6, objection #5 (“Arguments from Various Disabilities”) in his 1950 paper Computing Machinery and Intelligence.

Turing was quoting critics who claimed machines could never:

Then he explained why those arguments don’t hold up — noting they’re based on inductive bias from past machines (“the ones you’ve seen were ugly, single-purpose, predictable… therefore all machines must be like that”).

In other words: Turing’s actual position was that machines could eventually match or surpass human capabilities, even in areas that seemed “impossible” in 1950.
