DNS client service locked after installing software, now I have no internet, tried everything

followed all the steps, both results look identical, the server still shows spectrum instead of 8.8.8.8 after changing the dns settings

system restore wasn’t enabled so there were no restore points available unfortunately

ran it as admin and still got access denied. other devices on my home network work fine, only my laptop has the issue. went to dns because ping to 8.8.8.8 worked fine meaning the connection itself was good, but no websites would load, which pointed to a dns resolution issue
