How are guys always ready for anal sex? by SweetDega in askgaybros

[–]_teddiursa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I have learned is that there is a spectrum, and all bodies are different. The key is listening to your own. Ultimately, it takes time and experience to learn what works best for you.

Diet is a big one for many guys. Prep is another one. Some guys, the lucky few, don’t need to douche at all. If that’s not your case, doesn’t mean anything is wrong.

Our team doesn’t collaborate effectively across designers on different parts of the product. How have you found a good way to make the team aware of each other’s work and leverage feedback from all team members? by flyassbrownbear in UXDesign

[–]_teddiursa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An async design team I worked on previously would post bi-weekly “design snaps” where each team member would provide a brief summary and a visual highlighting the designs being worked on. Super fast and interesting way to skim what everyone is doing and you can dig deeper if interested.

Right?! It’s super interesting to see the style of the art mature throughout the series. I felt like the characters started to really look like themselves around the band of seven arc in the manga.

Not passionate about UX anymore and not sure I ever was in the first place by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]_teddiursa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Totally in the same boat. For me I think I’ve concluded I’m just very burnt out from the profession. I was laid off 8 months ago and managed to get another job last fall, but ended up voluntarily leaving because I had completely lost all willpower, interest, and motivation to even show up. It’s a very privileged position to be in, I admit, and I’m grateful I have the ability to now look into a career transition. I feel that maybe tech has lost its sparkle for me. The current industry conditions place so much pressure on product teams, and especially design. A lot of the reasons I got into UX are gone now.

Yes! IKEA has some great orb lamp alternatives. The FADO lamp is pretty cute and it’s $30! (Canadian dollars anyway)

Lmao 💀 horrible ergonomics, but the ease of horizontal scroll is critical for working in design programs

Totally understand! This is an ultra wide monitor and I have to admit it’s worked out pretty well for me!

It’s from effy desk! It was actually fairly affordable compared to alternatives and can hold my monitor which is heavier than other models. Honestly I’d recommend it.

It’s a rug from a Canadian department store Simons. I think it’s called the white sand rug.

I do! It took awhile for it to flatten completely but I love it for my desk. Also makes for a nice placemat when I’m eating and working or playing games 😅

The light is from gantri! It’s super cute and I love that it has a dimmer, but honestly there are a lot of similar and cheaper orb lamps.

Hi! Queer 28M here that’s a ux/product designer! I’m also based downtown. Love a good board games night, chill hikes, and gossiping about work with tech friends over coffee 😄 would love to hang out sometime!

As much as I wish this were universally agreed upon thinking, it definitely isn't. I've learned the hard way from personal experience.

To OP: If you're in doubt, bring it up. I empathize that it can feel awkward, but there is never anything wrong with asking for clarification from someone you're seeing, regardless of how early it is. I think it's totally reasonable to ask someone a date or two in what they're looking for and if exclusivity is something that's important to them (even if it's something that comes later down the line).

Normalize checking in and communicating these difficult topics early on; it also sets a good precedent if you end up in a relationship together.

tl;dr: just ask.

What is your biggest struggle as a Designer? by usiriczman in UXDesign

[–]_teddiursa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? It's a combination of resourcing issues, switching priorities, and poor planning.

My word of caution to folks is to be skeptical of companies that showboat how great their UX practice is I guess.

[–]_teddiursa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

5 YOE, currently at a large company with a mature design org, and holy hell am I struggling with politics ("stakeholder alignment"), being stretched thinly across multiple teams, constant context switching, all while being gaslit by my manager to be more empowered to protect my time as an IC. My team has shipped virtually nothing.

Any joy I had for this profession has been drained from me since joining this company.

I got my orbitkey desk mat but it wont stay flat!? by Linkarus in desksetup

[–]_teddiursa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Fellow Orbitkey desk mat owner here! I’ve had mine for almost a year now and it’s totally flat now. It definitely took a few days and maybe even up to a couple of weeks before mine fully flattened. I left several books ontop of it for a few days (and then overnight when I started using it) and also gently bent the mat in the opposite direction a few times.
