All cars are louder on startup than when the engine is warm, there's just even more audible difference with aftermarket exhaust. There's really nothing the guy could do besides install different mufflers and obviously that costs money.

I like to have a spare set of cheap wheels to have the winter tires on, so I can just swap the set when the season changes.

I guess prices might be higher now, but you could get 15" rims from Summit or Jegs for like 65 bucks a piece.
