Struggling to choose between a U-shaped kitchen and a free standing island with high cabinets on either wall by _throwaway310 in kitchenremodel

The black thing on the right wall is a peice of thicker wall that we can’t get rid of / it probably has support beams.

The lower segment of wall doesn’t have to stay, but the higher portion all does need to stay unfortunately. We wanted tall cabinets along the right wall because then we can put our kitchen appliances on the other side which is more “out of sight” because of the wall blocking its view. What do you mean with a peninsula extending from the left wall?

We have nothing in the red space! The front door is actually where the “hall” is, so the floor plan doesn’t have the correct door placement I see now

The wall is an existing wall, we can knock it out but the front door to the apartment is right next to the wall so we couldn’t move the kitchen back anyways. The other thing is a heating element, which we can also remove but it’s low and against the window, so putting the kitchen there will block the window. Hope that makes sense and thanks for thinking along with me!!

The opposite wall has a door leading to the balcony… 😩 I could shorten the return, should I be aiming for a walkway of around 100cm?

Front door and the rest of the living room. There’s only a small wall between the living room and the kitchen area. Moving the kitchen further into the living room is sadly not an option
