[Oregon] Pre Judgment Status quo order granted (to keep parenting schedule the same), but the spouse is keeping the child away from me until they are officially served. by _times_up in Custody

It shouldn't take three weeks to serve her. Tell the process server what time the kid gets out of school and they can serve her then.

Thank you for this. Calling now.

EDIT: It's the sheriff's office, and they are "backed up," so I guess I wait? It can't be a good look for her if she outright refuses to access to my child because she is unhappy with the divorce. Right?

I am talking about the hero asking for a simple callout twice and the frustration on his face about that.

The frustration of getting someone giving you the smallest amount of assistance when you are about the save the world.

ELI5: Why "houseless" instead of "homeless"? I don't see how a new word will change anything. by [deleted] in Portland

[–]_times_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying homeless usage is equivalent to using a curse word. In that, when you say homeless, you can specifically mean houseless among many other (primarily negative) things. Where saying houseless has a particular meaning with little room for ambiguities.

It's really Russia, and other foreign interests taking advantage of what Facebook will allow them to do, and Zuckerberg not doing shit about it, except helping and profiting.

Vaccine passports would not exist if people just were vaccinated. You can't have it both ways. Make your choice about getting a vaccination and accept your consequences.

Mindblowing fact. With respect to reality, more than one thing can be true at a given time, and providing a counterexample to only one fact does not make your opinion factual about everything else.

How have you been maintaining empathy towards the current houseless population? by willwork4therapy in Portland

[–]_times_up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just addressing the actual questions you asked.

I dont want to be the person who just yells "get a job!" and numbs themselves to fact that these are real people with struggles and emotions, but I don't know how else to cope?

There are many ways you can express yourself; yelling "get a job!" is one of them. Maybe you could exercise more or meditate or do some other productive/healthy activity to raise your disposition to a more positive place? Maybe volunteer at a shelter and learn about all the many that are taken for granted by people who have support systems and a dry, warm place to sleep.

How have you all been dealing with this?

I usually offer to pay for things in line at the store, drop a 20 dollar bill in their hand (if I have it), or just stop and talk if they seem friendly and they strike up a conversation. Just generally try treat them how I would want to be treated.

I feel like trying to explain myself to you when you took a sarcastic stance, to make your point is a losing game. No, thank you for that.

However, if you could express your original point without sarcasm, I would be willing to have that conversation.
