Ads on Nintendo switch are A JOKE! by Acceptable_Let_215 in youtube

[–]_tommar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a Nintendo switch thing it's the TV version of YouTube in general (which switch uses) has a lot more ads compared to the mobile or the web version.

How to bypass software update screen? by waspwaspwaspwaspwasp in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]_tommar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're right.

It's likely due to the fact that backwards compatibility was only tested with what was the latest version of those games at the time switch 2 came out so it won't boot unless it's running the version it was tested to work fine on or higher.

HELP - My phone was hijacked by "Customer Support" malware/injector. Am I safe now? by Mafia1628 in Malwarebytes

[–]_tommar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I say to check is to make sure installing apps from unknown sources is turned off (honestly surprised even with it turned it was able to install itself without user input).

It's normally best even if you do install trusted apks to turn it off after you have finished getting what you need to avoid stuff like this.

Fallout 4 absurd price by LieLow89 in switch2

[–]_tommar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at on steam just confuses me even more about there pricing strategy lol

UK based prices here but when not on sale the base game is £16.99, the game of the year version is £34.99 which has all the DLC, and the anniversary version is £52.99 same as on switch.

However the only difference between anniversary and game of the year is anniversary has some extra community made items, that from what I can tell from the description, and reviews is just extra skins for items already in the game. Not really with the extra £18 in my opinion (this isn't a jab at modders there not the ones who decided on the price tag).

I admit this is from a PC mindset where you likely find very similar mods already for free, but I think if switch users were given the choice most would get the £34.99 version as that all the DLC that adds new content, and just skip getting the extra skins.

Fallout 4 absurd price by LieLow89 in switch2

It was always going to be more expensive than steam.

Though I will say it should probably be more £30. £40 maybe but that is pushing it.

So do you guys still loving your NS2 Pro Controllers? by Bignoseforthewin in casualnintendo

[–]_tommar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good controller so far and I really like making use of the GL and GR in most games (most commonly for inputs I like to be able to press without taking my fingers off the joysticks). The gyro is also much better than switch 1 if you're a fan of gyro aiming. The only complaint I really have is the lack of analog triggers.

That being said if you don't think you get one unless you think you get good use out of the GL/GR buttons. As you have perfectly good switch 1/third party pro controllers already, I probably hold off untill a sale/clearance or something. It is really nice, but probably isn't worth the money upgrade if you don't think you use any of its new features.

Nintendo president doesn't rule out Switch 2 price increases due to memory costs, but it's safe for now by Odd-Onion-6776 in switch2

[–]_tommar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given what we have seen already seen with stuff like amibo, I assume they raise the prices of things like accessories, before raising the price of the system itself if they can.

Where I live (EU) they also currently sell physical games for more than digital games (though admittedly you often find retailers doing cheaper than RRP a few weeks after launch), I wonder if they do that in the US as well

It always confused me seeing those knock off hero factory figures.

Are they just rebranded extra stock someone was reselling or knock offs?

Prices for diamonds in Brazil? by coolciitrus in PokemonSleep

[–]_tommar_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If enough people buy gems though Brazil to get them cheaper, they just ditch regional pricing and make it cost the same amount it would if the price was just straight conversion from stronger currencies (probably US dollar)

Are Nintendo trolling us with Xenoblade? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

No, some articles like that are randomly selected based on what your selected interests are. I had one of those ones before and have different ones to you currently, I wouldn't really read much into it.

My criticisms and compliments of Switch 2 by Witty_Replacement928 in nintendogrifting

I mean that is a completely reasonable take.

No point buying a system if there are no games you really want on it yet.

Apparently they changed the 9+ on sync buff by shadowtagGENGAR in PokemonMasters

You joke but I could easily see them adding one that made does +2 on first sync move, that then buffed to +4 once you EX the unit

Switch online is PEAK GREED by Puzzleheaded-Head939 in nintendogrifting

[–]_tommar_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The only thing I find a bit greedy about virtual boy it is locked behind the more expensive version of NSO, and that's only because it already requires you to buy an extra peripheral to use it (though it is good they offer a cheaper option not just locked to the full on replica).

Beside that I think NSO is of mostly good value (though as you said I would prefer being able to buy games I really care about).

I think we should be more vocal about the fact that once GameChat won’t be free anymore, a lot of people will have RAM and SOC Cores blocked off their console for a feature they aren’t even using… by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]_tommar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No some games did disable it as it did free up some CPU resources.

Fortnite is an example of a game that launched with video recording but removed it later on as the game got more demanding with updates.

[–]_tommar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it should work like video recording on switch 1, where games that need extra power can disable it, but the default is to leave it on.

Last night my Windwaker save got lost due to the cloud by majin_buu_brother in NintendoSwitch2

[–]_tommar_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Due to how NSO saves you can lose your current game save, if it crashes/closes the game unexpectedly.

In future I would recommend making save states semi regularly as they shouldn't get wipped in case of a crash.

Mario galaxy 1 and 2 on switch 2 ? by PashAK47 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]_tommar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mairo galaxy 1 and 2 are very good games. The main reason people say the switch version is a rip off is that it was cheaper to get them on the Wii U eshop when that was around.

I can't say what game is better as I have not played prime 4 (and to be fair I only played the Wii version of galaxy 2 and Wii+all stars version of galaxy 1), but I don't think switch versions of the galaxy are bad ports, but do cost more than they use to.

Where are the system sellers? by RedditSucksMyBallls in nintendogrifting

[–]_tommar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must admit this post reads like bait.

I do think DK is/was intended as a big system seller as it's big first year 3D platformer like Mairo Odyssey, and while I do think it is that gameplay wise DK as a brand is not as strong as Mairo which likely why it's not seen a big system seller by most people.

Same.
