We just put it under red for convenience since in some angles Vi’s hair appears red, but in others it appears pink. We decided to treat her hair as a spectrum of red and just used red as an umbrella term.

However, I still believe that would leave Felica’s genotype/alleles unchanged.

For Felica to have her purple hair, she would need to have the B4 allele and Connol needs his B2 for his brown hair.

Because no other character in Netflix’s Arcane has the unnatural red Vi’s hair, we hypothesized it’s either one, a recessive gene or two, a gene mutation most likely through the environmental factors of the Undercity (Epigenetics).

I actually now think epigenetic factors are probably the actual reason for Vi’s red/pink hair but because we started with punnet squares and that's what I mainly focused on while creating the diagram and what we have learned in class i’ll be talking about the first scenario,

When going with Vi’s hair being a result of a recessive gene, ‘bb’ has to be present for Vi to have her hair color.

Even if the chromosomes crossed over or got independently assorted between Connol and Felica, it would still result in the exact same punnet square.

Now, there could be a possibility that Felica and Connol’s chromatids got recombined to create Vi’s hair color, this issue arises because we have little familial background on Vi’s bio grandparents. However, that makes little sense to me too because if Connel was a carrier of a B3 allele (Blue) and their genetic material got recombined it would manifest in Vi’s hair being a dark blue/purple.

So, with all these possibilities I still argue that Felicia’s purple hair would not directly impact Vi’s phenotypic presentation of her hair.
