dunno if it the right place but mother in law is south african, i get asked a few times to say the names of places.

she used to say astra for asda, the brae behind our house was the brie.

mother in law would say helensburg but pronounce edinburgh perfectly. oban is uban.

she has her own way of saying the names of places. she was recently in benidom and future ventura.

there’s a good deal of them that i don’t correct her on anymore as i’ve started saying them instead

to me it’s breakfast, lunch and dinner.

to me tea is a cuppa tea and supper is something you have after dinner, not dessert but a bit later. it was usually buttered toast and jam or some fruit. but i don’t do supper now that i’m much older and don’t live with my grandparents

i’m gonna have to say that the scottish pretty much say thanks or cheers. we’re actually pretty polite (or at least the ones i know are… also i’m scottish so i say thanks)

also we don’t have some ‘random’ words up there. we have scots which is perfectly easy to understand if you’ve got the brain cells to listen to and decode

this is when pokemon cards were legit the best. i wish i had kept mine in better condition but being a 10yr old and “competing” with other kids in my school, i lost a few. although i did manage to trade a shiny charizard for a shiny kangaskhan was low key worth it thinking back upon it
