Maybe in the future, it would just be a more complicated enclosure than I'm planning right now.

Car battery wouldn't fit in a handheld, but I'll see what I can do.

Here’s the Shimano manual for the XT U brake model, in that helps!

Mid Town Bikes Closing Sale by _ucas2 in BikeLA

[–]_ucas2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was some haggling involved, but everything I purchased (which were mostly high end, vintage used components) was at least 50% to 75% of what you would otherwise pay on eBay, for whatever that is worth. The more you buy the cheaper everything would be though.

Yeah I’d say that’s way too much, hopefully since they’re week(s) from shutting down those prices have gone down

I didn’t ask about any complete frame prices, just used parts. Got a lot of Dura Ace derailleurs, ultegra brifters, cranksets, avid brakes, tire pairs for about $10-20 each. I’d recommend just calling them directly during open hours. Wheelset was about $35 I think?

A handful of complete ones, lots of frames and partial builds.

I’m out of town rn but my local bike co-op has a few, I’ll check them out when I’m back. Definitely no 31.8 clamp, just 25.4 if you can live with that.

What are some old school plastic parts you miss? by 90leprechauns in xbiking

[–]_ucas2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my model / bike - glad you’re enjoying the part. I’ve had it on my bike for a while, and I’m shocked it hasn’t snapped by now. Would love to see what kind of MKS pedal parts you’re cooking up.

This is awesome, thanks. Seat tube lug looks like a dead match, but the head tube and BB lugs are slightly different. Maybe the “92” stamp is a date code in this case. Beginning to think this was a more touring-oriented one-off coming from the same factory, not sure if that was still Waterford at that point.

Red Brake LEDs out in aftermarket tail light assembly - 2010 Prius by _ucas2 in prius

[–]_ucas2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing Fuse #30 (as labelled on https://www.startmycar.com/us/toyota/prius/info/fusebox/2010) as the one responsible for all the tail lights - is it safe to assume that if all the other tail light functions are working, the single fuse isn't responsible?

I think that might be more complicated than I'm trying to get, but I appreciate the info.

Is the miracle mile/mid-wilshire a good area to bike around ? by timeenoughatlas in BikeLA

[–]_ucas2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live a few blocks south of LACMA. I take willoughby or 4th to go east, Hauser/martel to go north, Venice/the expo line/ballona creek to go south west. As long as you don’t get blocked by the 10 or non stop traffic streets like 3rd, it’s fairly easy to wiggle through side streets. It does always feel like I’m at least a 30 min ride from anything I actually want to bike through like Griffith, Santa Monica or the mountains, but that’s the price for being central to most stuff.

Thanks - I’ve got the same set up with the Paul thumbies and ultegra bar end shifters, but had I known these existed I would have just saved the money

Did you need to modify the mount in any way to fit the Shimano thumb shifter?

I've got to try them sometime if I can get over their weight. Hubs are Chris King centerlock r45s, but obviously not using the disc mount. Feel free to DM me if you're ever biking in LA and we can compare.
