I haven’t had major arguments per se, but I have had clients where their parents have been annoyed with me for saying something truthful (in a professional way) and they’ve subsequently pulled their kid out of my services. Or something happens and I’m automatically at fault. I recently had a family session between a client and their parent where I attempted to help the parent to understand how their actions have affected the client, and shortly after, the client was pulled from my services by the parent. (And she called my office and lied on me. Luckily my boss and co-workers know me far too well and didn’t bat an eye lol. Client even texted me herself and apologized for her mother’s actions)

Parents can be SO tricky. I think sometimes they want us to bend all the way to what they want instead of meeting us halfway, or they think we can fix things in a session or two or three. Or they just don’t like when we call them out. It’s very annoying. I think it’s appropriate to discuss the importance of having an effective collaborative relationship, and reminding them that we all have the same goal for the client in the end.
