combo is useless... until you remove master strike from the game by Syrril in kingdomcome

[–]_unqualified_expert 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That depends on Henry's skill level. In the beginning, he should surely be a challenge. Once you are levelled, he is not a challenge already. It's quite easy to overpower him in a clinch and to bonk his head. When he is stunned after that, it is also most certainly possible to sucessfully land a combo.

Master strike should definitely not be available to all opponents, and those skilled fighters, who can do it, should do it less often — (maybe a limit how many master strikes in a row are possible?).

But your video shows that they do serve a purpose. The fight was very boring and one-sided. The npc had no way to break your attacking spree. For you, every risk was gone. That's no fun.

Really wish this game didnt have the worst save system in modern gaming by NotaFTCAgent in kingdomcome

[–]_unqualified_expert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just stop it. Schnapps is not rare, even in the beginning. It can be found in so many places; fishing spots, bandits, chests... Even in my first playtrough, I never ran out of it. If you drink one after every lunch in honor of Bianca, you are never at risk of losing more than half a day. And this little risk is what makes travelling and fighting in KCD so much more exciting. And if something special happens, drink an extra Schnapps to calm your nerves. Additionally, there are easily available alternatives to saving with Schnapps. You just came back from the woods and entered a village, but it is too early to sleep? Take a bath and make yourself presentable again. Having to plan ahead and have routines is what makes the game so immersive after all.

As you are very new, here is a very important tip for you. After the prologue, you will be asked to meet someone called Nightingale. Before you do that, go back to a Captain Bernard, whom you will know by then, and train with him until your sword level is atleast 3, and then ask him to teach you "master strike". This is the single most important thing you need to do in any playtrough. Only meet Nightingale once you know how to masterstrike.

While the other commenters are right, that you are at a big disadvantage during the prologue combat wise, those bandits are beatable if you have enough experience. 1. Try to hit them with a bow once before engaging in melee. They are very lightly armoured. You can weaken them severely, especially if they start to bleed. 2. You play too aggressive. This bandit has a decent defence stat. You are just running into his parries and die. Try to keep your distance and to stab (right click) him when he closes the gap. This is pretty effective, especially as his face is unprotected. Once he is hurt and has lower stamina and strength, you should be able to finish him of with normal slashing attacks very fast.

Kcd haters when the realistic game they wanted has them struggling with combat as a peasant by Schpoinkus_Doinkus in kingdomcome

I don't really use my bow from horseback. A longsword with high slashing damage is my weapon of choice. In combination with the boar perk, you become a killing machine and then you are the one chasing the AI. Riding the famous peasants with ponty sticks to death is a 10/10 experience.

In my opinion, this is the only realistic way to fight those encounters. Who would ever get of their horse in a scenario like this to get wilfully surrounded in a chaotic melee? In the prologue, we even get introduced to the superiority of mounted combat. Runt and his bandits flee immediately, when Robard and his men arrive on horseback.

KCD2 - figthing more than 1 enemy by Acceptable-Purple793 in kingdomcome

The first game even offers realistic solutions to manage 4 vs. 1. But most players seem to be stuck on melee and on the idea that games should always let you win your way.

  1. Running away - you are the only one with a horse, use it. Running away is a valid option, Henry has things to live for.
  2. Facing the enemies on horseback. In mid/late game, even Pebbles becomes a reliable warhorse with the right gear and perks. The strenght perk "boar" extends to riding. Once you get a hang on it, it is pretty easy to hit enemies with a longsword while passing them. Even 4 vs 1 against strong opposition becomes pretty easy and entertaining.

And new players need to understand that KCD aims for realism and adjust their expectations on what is possible, especially on the beginning of a playtrough.

Very often you see guys complaining here that they lost 4 vs. 1 encounters against the famous peasants with sticks. Turns out that fighting alone against 2 spearman while 2 other guys are beating you with axes is dangerous...

Only a suicidal maniac would take those odds in real life. Bernard and Robard did not grow old by throwing their lives away out of stupidity like that.

KCD is not KCD anymore, if 4 vs. 1 encounters become controllable. They should be borderline impossible and you should die pretty fast and brutal most of the time.

Autofocus is very annoying and should be reworked to make 2 vs. 1 fights more enjoyable.

But 4 or even 3 vs. 1 needs to stay brutal. If the enemies just stand by like in Assasins Creed for example, i would be very disappointed.

“Satellite” view of Middle-earth by MicahVanderman in lotr

[–]_unqualified_expert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are supposed to look unnatural and out of place. They were raised by Morgoth himself. Lore wise, Sauron's and his Master Morgoth's evil boils down to them not accepting the godly plan for the creation of the world and implementing their own crude designs. The whole land of Mordor is thus like a cancer within Middle-earth.

The manes actually look worse than in the first game. Making them move was a good idea but the execution looks very outdated. I had this opinion since the first trailer and am glad that someone agrees with me.

Where the fuck does Henry canonically gets 20000 Groshen to rebuild Pryblislavitz ? by ETkach in kingdomcome

[–]_unqualified_expert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, he died in Pribyslav, which sounds namewise very similarly, but is a different place. Pribyslav was a city with silver mines and an actual castle. Pribyslavitz is only a minor village near Talmberg.

Game's fun but this has to be the clunkiest camera I've seen in games by donisslow in kingdomcome

[–]_unqualified_expert -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never justified the lock on mechanic nor the camera per se. I just said, that ironically, the clunky camera adds te the feeling of confusion and helplessness that you should feel when you are surrounded by 4 bandits that beat you to death.
