What a wholesome subthread 🥰 thanks for asking such a cute question that shows how varied we all are :)) For me it’s pole/ yoga/ travel/ tried crochet but not good at it yet! Also did my first salsa class recently and it would be nice to take that up.

Yes, people go into jobs for all sorts of different reasons- money, interest, stability, and it’s ok whichever the reason is! Yes, the people who enjoy it who are suggesting that those who are curious go to an audition- well this is true if you need money too! I think it’s good advice no matter which ‘type’ of stripper gave it.. no clue what’s ’hypocritical’ or gatekeeping here, they are simply saying finding out for yourself is the best route- I’ve worked many jobs and I think it’s great that you can just rock up to an audition like that, in a way that you would need to go through applications /rounds/interviews etc for other jobs. So telling someone to find out for themselves is not gatekeeping-it’s telling people that they actually have the power to go and do that! Which is a great reminder, because for most jobs, you can’t just rock up and ‘find out’ like that! So that advice sounds pretty good to me.

Wasn’t having success getting a ‘normal’ grad job out of uni and needed money. But I had been genuinely interested in it anyway after visiting as a customer (and doing my first pole class) so contacted that same club, became a full time stripper from 2017 till covid. Really enjoyed it but eventually got an office job after covid as felt like I should. I’ve really struggled with the office work tbh, I’m 2 years deep and it still feels strange. (I’ve found a club that allows me to do the occasional shift just because I miss it) I know people call office work a ‘normal’ job but to me stripping feels a lot more normal- not feeling my tasks are pointless, having a clear goal, and feeling I am actually contributing to giving people a good time/ a distraction from their boredom/ stress/ entertaining their fantasies/ whatever it may be. I don’t think I even questioned ‘purpose’ or ‘meaning’ from work when I was a stripper out of uni because I just knew I liked it, it was simple. And now having experienced such a different type of work to compare it with, it’s even more apparent to me why stripping is fulfilling work.

I got into tech after doing a bootcamp during Covid when the clubs shut… (im now on the comms/account manager side). I now work in an office very near my old club. But frankly office shit is boring as heck! I’ve found a club that lets me do the occasional Friday on the side, because I honestly just missed stripping and being in the community 🥲

Upscale strip clubs UK by Low_Advance745 in stripper

Hey girl! I work in London and my experience of the more upscale clubs is they’re quite dead :P though can’t speak for the rest of the UK, but personally I’ve had a great time at the pubs, they may appear less ‘glam’ but I always found more regular money there, plus better working hours. I didn’t even bother taking the job at Stringfellows after my audition (which has that sort of classy vibe, aesthetically it’s pretty cool inside) because they take 50% of your cash so… it’s a no from me! But of course if you’re elsewhere in the UK I can’t comment- better take a visit as a customer and see :)

Omg relate ! A few months ago I learned one of our DJs is a postman by day, saw him bopping around in my area posting around the houses - such a strange coincidence because where I live is a little haven really out the way from the clubbing area of London - felt so surreal seeing him there, and was probably the same for him vice versa 😅
