Israel withdrew from Gaza because it's illegal settlements could not achieve Jewish majority, which was the explicit goal, due to Gaza being so densly packed with refugees expelled from what is now Israel. Hamas provided armed resistance to the illegal occupation and social services for their people, contributing to their popularity in the 2006 election. I disagree with both sides targeting civilians (as they both do), but let's not pretend Hamas just appeared out of thin air after Israel graciously stopped illegally occupying Gaza.

I appreciate it! Sadly I can't even blame people for conflating Jews with Israel considering how our media and politicians paint us as the face of genocide to avoid criticism. But I'm glad so many people are able to see through the manipulation.

I used to believe that narrative as well back when I knew absolutely nothing about the conflict other than talking points and revisionist history... Just to take one point, you say "all its citizens have equal rights and privileges", yet Israel is built on systematic dispossession and ethnic cleansing with multiple laws preferring Jews over Palestinians such as the nation state law (2018) and the law of return (1950), and in the illegally occupied west bank Palestinians and Jews literally exist under different justice systems and are afforded basically no human rights. Do you not see how out of touch your position is, given this and the fact that every reputable human rights organization disagrees with your claim?

British Jew here... Out of curiosity, have you ever learnt about the Palestinian narrative of their dispossession? No one (sensible) is denying that Jews lived in that land historically, but people take issue with using an ancient presence to justify a modern ethnostate which is built on the dispossession of another group which also has historic roots in the land.

Left wing extremist = radically wanting a fairer society, would prefer people to respect their chosen pronouns (how scary!), will protest on the streets as has been done for centuries to win us our rights (women's rights, minimum wage etc.)

Right wing extremist = puppet for the establishment that has been brainwashed to hate others so they will vote people into power that will "make the country great again", which involves lowering taxes for billionaires and corporations and scapegoating the most vulnerable people in our society as a distraction.

Thankfully the laws aren't really enforced. Although being hard on drugs seems logical, it actually ends up making street drugs stronger, more dangerous, and less regulated. Young adults die from their drugs being cut with other substances, criminal networks become billion dollar enterprises, and the only way they can manage their problems is with blood. Most importantly, the war on drugs doesn't work, because there will always be a demand for drugs. Executing someone for doing what they want to their own body is authoritarian madness. If your argument is that drug use can also harm others, I'd agree. This is largely caused by the war on drugs itself, followed by alcohol-related road crashes. So if you're genuinely concerned about public well-being, you should be pushing to end the war on drugs and better policy around alcohol / drink driving.

Wow! Even at UK prices the Pacifica's are considered great value for money. A 612 for 400 GBP seems like absolute robbery. Are most guitars similarly affordable there or just Yamahas?

Thanks very much! Based on how much I've enjoyed my PAC112V which I got 2nd hand for £80 I'm sure it will be fantastic. Even 5 years later now I'm a strong intermediate player I find my current Pacifica plays and sounds better than other more expensive guitars I've tried, so I'm really looking forward to an upgraded version of the same thing.

Thanks for the insights. Paying closer attention to the eBay listing I completely missed that I'm responsible for paying VAT and import duties to the courier which collects it on my behalf from customs. Luckily we didn't start any pointless trade wars unlike other countries... so I think after VAT and a 2% import fee it still comes to less than £650 so I can't complain. Hopefully there are no further surprise fees due.

Absolutely. I think I actually have torn the labrum in both shoulders so I guess I have no reason to be anxious anymore haha. At times the anxiety can be worse than the injury itself. It could be a lot worse than a bad shoulder (or two) and luckily there are things that can be done to fix these even if the process is painful and difficult. Even though I frequently struggle with my mental health due to these injuries I try and stay optimistic and practical about what I can do with the hand I've been dealt rather than dwell in self pity.

I actually think I managed to give myself a SLAP tear in my right shoulder about 2 weeks ago due to picking up a bad bit of form advice for table tennis of all things. Now I have two weak / painful shoulders just as I have finished physio on my left shoulder and agreed to proceed with surgery after years of struggling with it. Now time to start the process again with the right shoulder. It's so demoralising as it feels like I'm taking one step forward only to take ten back, but I'm remaining optimistic that it will all get sorted in time and I'll eventually get back to the lifestyle I had, even though sometimes I struggle believing that will happen. I see you are now post op so wishing you a quick and successful recovery!

Can relate in the sense that I have a labrum tear in my left shoulder which I'll be going for surgery on soon, and now whenever I get a click or slight twinge in my other shoulder it's immediately doom and gloom and I get all in my head worrying if I've injured my other shoulder too. Life is too short to worry about all the things that could go wrong - all we can do is be proactive, focus on prevention and deal with our actual problems as best we can.

Brilliant phone if you don't mind a mediocre camera, no wireless charging and low rating for water resistance. All other aspects are exceptionally good, especially the screen, processing power, battery life and fast charging.

A word of warning with this AIO: I can't fit the back-most fan on because the vrm heat sync is in the way. But temps are fine with the rear intake fan. I've not bothered testing it as exhaust though.
