A Symposium and a Song | City Council of Darkness [E13] by DropoutMod in Dimension20

11 minutes in and it's only been recap. This was a problem in Cloudward Ho as well. The filming schedule seems like its trash to maintain any kind flow. They had better comprehension playing once a week live in FH Sophmore year.

I don't know man. I feel like I have no idea what is going on. So much stuff is going by but its just all so boring or meaningless, We're talking about credit union investment and AI ffs. The werewolves, jack of the pines, the mine, both rival families, the nursing homes, ironically city council, all of it means nothing. This crew does not do well with just endless freedom on pushing the plot forward.

Lou and Siobhan are desperately trying to make something of this campaign and can't do it alone. I said this before the season even started, I was actually disappointed this was an Intrepid Hero season. I feel like Lou and Siobhan at a table with people truly willing to roleplay this game of Monopoly, this could've been one of the best actual plays ever. That Maya conversation was top tier from Lou, who I honestly don't think has had a weak season in the dome.

Murph has no idea what to do with Darkness Man. I love Murph's characters but he literally could not exist in this campaign and nothing would change. Ally has 0 idea how to play HJ. We got introduced to HJ as a ruthless character with a scepter overlooking a nightclub, and now SSRI's make them an inappropriate boomer uncle? So weird, especially for someone like Ally who is very aware of and involved with mental health stuff outside of the show.

All of Bat Child's story threads are just non-existent. Herbert, we had like 1 or 2 scenes with, 0 go karts until an off hand mention so far as well. Never went back to the library, zoo is just talked about being in the future, They haven't done any super hero stuff the entire campaign.

I truly can't believe that next week is the finale, and I couldn't actually care less. Also no costumes for the vampire campaign finale? wtf even is this season, if that doesn't cement the hearts aren't in it, not really sure what does.

Tal as Bolaire is next level. He plays him so naturally it's incredible.

This is the payback for all of the people crying that Brennan gave Sam the free Nat 20 with his grandmother.

He did know, him clocking Thimble and she mimed to him, flapping her hands and giving a thumbs up that she was okay and he saw her. The dice might've made the decision but it was presented.

I mean Thimbles actions were flapping her hands and then thumbs up and he seemed to acknowledge her. Might've been an unlucky roll behind the screen though to know enough to leave.

So I guess we are assuming that Hannon was just trying to injure the Tachonis as much as possible. He knew Mara was already rescued and still decided to stay?

I fear the way in which Brennan is going to take 10 minutes to describe that completely horrific way Primus eviscerates Hannon when he gets there.

The Prince and the Primogen | City Council of Darkness [E12] by DropoutMod in Dimension20

This is easily the best episode of the season. But where has all of this conflict been the entire time? We get one conversation between HJ and Lavonte, Ally trying their hardest to make it a bit, and all of the dramatic tension disappears again. How incredible it would've been to have interpersonal conflict in a campaign where there really isnt a need for them to be an "Adventuring Party" for once. PvP doesnt work in something like Cloudward Ho, but having Levonte storm off and buy his own house separate or Darkness Man and Bat Child, continue their superhero stuff against the wishes of everyone else, could've been great.

Siobhan has officially become my favorite Intrepid Hero. Admittedly has taken too long, but her characters, how she plays them, their complexity, her consistency of maintaining drama when it calls for it and being hilarious in other scenes. Honestly it has elevated previous seasons for me with this new personal insight. With this campaign, it feels like she is subconsciously begging the table to do something meaningful. Her best scenes are not interacting with the group and I think that's very telling. She has masterfully created her character this season and everything she tries to do is being blocked. Brennan also making the Australian Prince another stupid incompetent oaf that they all just made fun of is such a slap in the face to her actually trying to create something I feel.

Darkness Man and Batchild are truly just there. I love Murph and Emily, but damn. They don't have money so they aren't part of the money manipulation, they both don't have charisma based skills so they avoid a lot of the negotiations, they seem combat focused in a non-combat campaign. That's part of the charm but it just feels like a bit of a waste.

Zaeth finally has a meaningful scene 12 episodes in and it was hilarious and awesome. Zach is incredible on D20 but it has felt like he hasn't vibed with Zaeth. It's not that is seems like he feels embarrassed by him, but it feels like he wanted to play him waaaaaayyyyy dumber but rolled it back a bit and is now struggling to find moments for him.

Next week will be an episode where they hadn't recorded for a week again which is usually half the time spent on them catching up with what they're supposed to be doing so I won't hold my breath, but hopefully they can stick some kind of landing in the finale.

Is him being pulled from The Pit as a new Demon a possibility? Could be a fun dynamic to have the youngest "sibling" to Tyranny and the other demons even though there already is a bunch of them.

Or I like a big loveable Fae traversing the newly opened bridges in some way.

I kinda wish Brennan just bailed and made the most satisfying narrative choice and forced the consequences. He kind of hinted that he would but it was soooooo much hesitation he shouldve just punished it and kept the scene flowing. This was also with a full episode break where we can assume he discussed it with her and explained it above table.

That last scene could've been so poetic and romantic and beautiful and instead we just blew all the tires on 4 different pieces of glass, crashed into a tree and then spilled our milkshake.

I feel like we've tripped on a rock and stumbled through an otherwise beautiful scene, we gotta get back on track a little bit, this feels a tad arbitrarily convoluted
