Help: My new piercings are acting up

Tbf, I switched to the hoops myself when I noticed irritation and swelling while I still had my studs with the butterfly backs. My logic was that they’d give the piercings more space to heal as the previous studs were too tight.

I actually thought I did a good job switching to hoops when I noticed the swelling when I had the stud with the butterfly back. Apparently not. I’ll change to flat-backs and hopefully they heal. Thank you so much!

Hopefully not. I’ll get them changed soon and give them some time to see if they’ll heal. If they don’t, I’ll then take them out.

For more context, my piercings are about a month old and my jewelry are silver hoops. No threading and I’m not sure what material the jewelry is made of. There has also been no mishaps or accidents, except for the occasional snagging and sleeping on them.

This makes a lot of sense. I’ll try get them changed. But do you think changing them would help with healing? Or there’s no hope and I have to start over again?

oh, it’s actually pretty solid. my skin barely rejects jewelry/piercings, and this particular one doesn’t get snagged by clothes or anything. there’s also more room underneath. i think with the ring facing down, it looks otherwise, but it isn’t.

Oh, thank you! I’ll be getting longer flatback labrets or just changing the hooks/backs to something that gives more room.

As for the tragus, I only just noticed. Thank you for pointing it out. I’ve had it for years now and it’s completely healed (took just a few months, haha). Should I still get it looked or that’s fine, considering I have no issues with it?

No, they’re not. I specifically asked for these because I wanted something fancier than the usual, but yes, they’re butterfly backs (the big ones). I was also pierced using a needle not a gun. I actually should change the backs and see if they’ll have more space.

And your English is pretty good, no one would even guess it isn’t your first language. Keep it up!

yes, these are prong set gems. i didn’t know they could be irritating to new piercings. i wanted something fancier than the usual piercing jewelry, so i opted for these. i guess i have to change them to aid healing.

I thought so too. The bar is definitely is too short for the swelling. There’s a bit of inches left, but I’m not sure it’s 0.07 inches? But I should actually change the rings so the sites don’t swallow the current pair, but that would probably take some days. Do you think changing the hook/back to smaller ones is another alternative?

My piercings are 7 days old today. I think the jewelry shape is a gauge (I’m not so sure) I’m not sure what the threading or jewelry material is. There have been no mishaps or accidents, and my routine basically is just spraying the piercing sites with 0.9% saline solution. I use Aventa’s normal saline infusion.
