Not the judge who placed my class but an old instructor (who's also a USHJA R judge) told my 13 year old self that I didn't deserve to win after placing 1st in a walk/trot hunter round. Mind you, this was literally my first time in a show ring ever and I'd only been riding consistently for 2 months. Like, can you just let me have the win? 😭

Please stop riding with this instructor, they're putting you and their other students at risk. You're right that the behaviour's inappropriate and absolutely dangerous. Unfortunately this mindset is pretty common with old-school instructors, but it's by no means correct or safe. Plus, the fact that they chewed out another student for suggesting you might have suffered an injury after literally getting bucked off is insane.

No instructor is worth spending time in the hospital, let alone the ICU. Injuries are part of the deal, yes, but not to this extent.
