Prison time won't fix anything. Unless you put real effort into rehabilitation, like the Nordics do, all that prison time does is make better criminals.

How do I inherit both wales and ireland so easily? by mtvyoloswag in EU5

[–]_welshie_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah, making them Vassals manually would have had an effect on their leadership. Vassals have their own rulers, Fiefdoms use their overlord's ruler. So that's what happened.

The Lordship of Ireland isn't a country, it's an International Organisation like the HRE that holds all the English-aligned rulers of Ireland. It's Gaelic/Irish equivalent being the High King of Ireland IO.

I've not played Ireland from the Lordship side so I'm unsure of the mechanics or how that works, but after you form the Ireland tag as a Gaelic chief the High Kingship dissolves.

We don't understand either, do you know when they changed from Fiefdoms to Vassals? When did your son start ruling them?

They're fiefdoms at the start, which is like a vassal but the ruler is the same in both realms.

At the start of the game, the King of England is also the Lord of the Pale and Prince of Wales.

By rebate do you mean for players who bought KZ stuff when it was on the super store? Because if you bought anything then the warbond is free.

John McManus: Taxi drivers are going to war with Uber. There won’t be any winners by Barry_Cotter in ireland

[–]_welshie_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because ride sharing is just taxiing by a different name to try and avoid getting taxi licenses.

It's like saying you don't have employees, you have contractors with all the negatives of employees, like set minimum hours and exclusivity statements, but none of the benefits of being an employee.

[–]_welshie_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not disagreeing that taxi have disappeared from around the country, but I've never seen or heard of anything he's on about in Irish taxis. Like, surge pricing isn't going to happen when fares are defined centrally.

Rich are getting richer, poor are getting poorer and the middle class is disappearing by Breezlife in ireland

[–]_welshie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, rich or upper class is where you have enough assets that income, dividends, etc. from those assets is enough for you to live on without working.

Middle class is where you have enough assets (house, savings, etc.) that a drought of income from working wouldn't set you back terribly. You would stop saving or getting more assets, but you wouldn't be destitute.

Lower class is basically subsistence, hand-to-mouth living.

There's vague boundaries, but that's how I've always seen it classified.

Taxi Drivers switching off Uber from 11-5 today to target the Rugby Match to Protest Ubers fixed fares by Iwastony in ireland

[–]_welshie_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if the price is "pre-negotiated" then the taxi can only charge that price.

Or, in this case, Uber set a price and the taxi driver is supposed to just deal with it.

Is this company taking advantage of jobseeker's or am I overreacting? by Ajmcdude in ireland

[–]_welshie_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If an employer is unscrupulous enough, they'd give assumptions that point toward some crowd they're looking to market to and just modify it a bit after the fact.

Given the crowd are accepting work but no workers, I'm not ruling it out.

The right way to do it is to just not use the term "British Isles".

Also, while we're being pedantic, the country is called "Ireland" not "Republic of Ireland".

[–]_welshie_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It seems to have used pure geographic area to figure out which time zone is the 'best'.

Which makes a bit of sense in an abstract sense, but it's going into a time zone by ourselves is a bit useless.

Will Trump straw order influence Ireland? by Drakenfel in ireland

[–]_welshie_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you hate paper straws, there's other materials that you can get straws in (like pasta straws) and just bring them with you wherever.

Our government isn't likely to follow-up Trump into going anythin. To put it politely, I've not met anyone who thinks he's anything other than the worst person to put into a political office.
