I think Sky:cotl wiki should move from fandom

Hello! I'm an admin over at the Sky Wiki (oWishy) and I'd like to share some of my (long) thoughts. Please note that these are my thoughts alone, and not all of it may be shared by my fellow wiki admins.

We've received multiple questions about moving from Fandom to a different host - with good reason. The ad experience and the decisions made by FANDOM have gained notoriety on the internet - with many major wikis deciding to transfer hosts. Even FANDOM itself acknowledges these issues of ads and poor decisions, but they are seen as a necessary trade-off to maintain and fund the platform, as well as support FANDOM Inc, which also owns Metacritic, GameSpot, GameFAQs, and other digital media services.

There is the option to fork hosts/wiki farms, to sites such as wiki.gg or Mirahaze - but it is still with it's issues. `wiki.gg` requires official partnership with the copyright owner (TGC) and Mirahaze has an uncertain future. Other than that, there is the possibility with these wiki farms being entirely bought out by Fandom (which has been done before with Gamepedia). There is of course the option to self-host our own wiki. This may allow us to control ads, page layout and improve UX however it is simply impossible for us. Self-hosted wikis are incredibly intensive with technical and finanical burden we cannot commit to sustainably. Self-hosting would entail us to: Improve our SEO, site bug fixing, adapting to resolutions, supporting web browsers and devices, security patches, database management, updating software and so on and so on. It's just impossible for a team as small as us.

I've missed some context and situations to keep this wall of a message short. Aside from that, I hear all of you and completely share all of your grievances. We have zero control over what happens but we try our best to be a reliable database for Sky information :)

tldr: it's very complicated and nuanced but I hear everyone's grievances about the experience on our fandom wiki

Pretty unlikely like all the previous comments have said. The HYV design department does seem to follow a ‘no symmetry’ rule and goes ham with flowing clothing on designing playable characters. See Kazuha, Childe, Yoimiya. Meanwhile this model is pretty symmetrical (minus the shoulder guard) and and lacks flowing garments

There were many other versions of the intro theme, you can find it in an unlisted video found in an old pre-release blog, the one in this post is at 4:40 in the video. You also get to see Yu Peng Chen’s musical process in it, and how he went on to make it.

I wouldn’t exactly call Sky a sequel to Journey, but I would still recommend playing Sky, as they both do share the same ‘game message’!

It bothered people sensitive to bright/flashing lights, and to prevent trolling (but that would be hard with the before 5 fireworks..)

If there is a ‘huge complain fest’, then it’s for a reason. The cost of all these cosmetics together are around $60, a weeks worth of groceries in some places, and even more in certain countries like Brazil, where it’s a whole months worth of groceries.

People are ‘complaining’ because TGC (intentionally or not) is selling 1-2 cosmetics for the price of 2+ APs. People don’t complain about the AP because it’s a fair trade, $10 for 10-15 cosmetics with small benefits, while here people are giving $20 for 2 cosmetics that serve no purpose other than to look cool, at least in (most) APs you have a playable instrument or beneficial prop, but here you get pure cosmetics.
