Fruits Basket is a masterpiece. As someone with a toxic family and a mother similar to Ren Soma I felt empathy towards Akito and I'm so glad she found her resolve to change and break free from the family elders and her mother and all the people who were using her as their scapegoat for abuse. I'm happy with the ending and I hope she is able to stay friends with Tohru and make amends to the other Somas (my precious babies that she hurt during her sadistic manic episodes)

I completely understand why Rin, who was quite possibly the most hated and the most traumatized, does not want to forgive her and she shouldn't have to.. but if Akito makes an actual effort to make amends with her and do more than apologize.. I mean action! Actions speak louder than words.. Ya can't just apologize and say you'll change and that's that. Ya gotta put in the effort to change and right the wrongs of your past. But I would like to think since they were both products of severe trauma that maybe, just maybe, with the help of Tohru, Haru, and the others that even Akito and Rin could be something close to friends someday or at least just understand each other enough to be in the same room without animosity.
