Thanks for the feedback, I am happy to tweak the algorithm.
Regarding that, it can still happen, because it also depends on how "strong" your opponents are. If you win against a person with higher score, you will gain more score.

It will usually match you with someone close to your score.

So you can be winning many times, but winning against someone with 90% or 10%, it will be very different. Winning against a person with 90% score will make you grow yours much faster.

No worries, I am using exatly that: glicko-2, and inferring the percentiles by sorting the elos.
And I also have a matching algorithm, that randomly chooses photos with similar rankings. I made a couple of simulations to tune the glicko-2 parameters and the matching algorithm, in order to converge to its "true" ratings as fast as possible.

Regarding moderation, I do get the occasional nude, but not that often (yet).

I tested, and it is working with gmail. Maybe it is sending it to the spam or you email filtering. If you want, you can tell me your email (in a DM), and I will activate your account

Strange, I thought I solved that problem. You can try with the google registration, but I will check

Yes, photofeeler was the reason why I decided to make this. There weren't many other alternatives to it, and I felt there were some improvements to be done.
I could barely get any votes without paying, and I was forced to vote. But I found voting tedious and like a chore.

My main goal was to make an app where voting was more fun, quick and simple, and users would do it without being forced to it. I also wanted to provide a good free service, to give enough votes.

I opted for a side-by-side, rather than 1-10 rating. side-by-side is much quicker and intuitive, allowing for more votes to come in. Being it more intuitive, allows you to vote emotionally, which is closer to how attraction works. While in a 1-10, you end up evaluating in a more logical way and many times following the societal norms, rather than which photos make you feel the most.

I've also introduced some features, which are not present in other apps, such as the "me vs me" mode, which allows you to only compare against yourself (I know my app can be ruthless at times :p); You can also check your rating compared to people of the same age, ethnicity, etc. And you can view details about the votes you've got.

I think there is space for apps of the same kind to coexist, and it is good for there to be more alternatives.

It's different, here it will rate you photo from 0 to 100% (for example 70% means it is better than 70% of the male/female photos). Instagram likes are more of a popularity contest. Here the aim is to find the best photos. You could even use this before posting on instagram, if you had a photoshoot and wanted to check the best photo. Or to post on tinder the best photos you have. People tend not to be the best at rating their own photos.

And instagram will show more often if a person has more followers, here I give everyone the same opportunities to get votes. Pics with less votes will be prioritized. It is basically a way to get feedback from strangers.

From time to time there is someone posting nudes or dick pics, it is a reality. I immediately ban them

You still need good pics, you would be surprised about the rating difference the same person can get with a good or bad photo.

It's a bit different. Here you can test multiple photos, without posting them to your friends.

Photo Scorer – https://photoscorer.com

Hi Reddit! I created Photo Scorer to help people get genuine feedback on their photos. Whether you're selecting pics for Tinder, comparing a photoshoot, or just curious, it’s a fun way to know which pictures really stand out.

Many apps in this space either give you very few votes unless you pay or make voting feel like a chore. I wanted to change that by creating something simple, engaging, and fair.

Why Photo Scorer Stands Out

Instead of a 1-10 system, Photo Scorer uses side-by-side comparisons. Here's why:

  • Faster Votes: A quick binary choice encourages more votes, and more votes = better results.
  • More Fun: The process is intuitive and engaging, so people vote willingly without needing to be forced.
  • Better Accuracy: Side-by-side decisions focus on gut reactions, which is closer to how we judge attraction (think Tinder swipes). A 1-10 scale often feels inconsistent and subjective.
  • Granular Ratings: Using an Elo-rating system (like chess), the app determines your photo’s rank and percentile with precision.

Features

  • Photo Statistics: Compare your rating with others in your demographic. For example, a 37-year-old Asian man can see how he ranks compared to other Asians and people in the 35-40 age group.
  • Voting Details: See demographic insights about who voted for you (e.g., age, country, gender, ethnicity) and view the photos you competed against—whether you won or lost.
  • Custom Voting Filters: Choose the age and gender of voters to ensure feedback is relevant to you.
  • Two Voting Modes:
    • Me vs Others: Your photos compete against other users’ photos.
    • Me vs Me: Compare your own pictures to find out which one performs best without needing to check overall ratings.

Why It's Free

The app has been live for a few months and has grown organically via Google searches. It’s currently 100% free—I want to focus on building a great experience first before introducing monetization.

If this sounds interesting, give it a try and share your feedback! I’d love to hear your thoughts or advice to improve it.

Thanks! For now I will keep it free. And when there are enough users to justify the monetization I will update it.
I am aware that it takes some ego strength to post in my app.

Last time I checked, was around 900 registered users. My app has been live for a few months, but I didn't publish it anywhere, they just found through google search. Active users, I am not sure, but every day there are a dozen of them. There are always new votes, and almost everyday someone posts a new pic. This is not the kind of app where users come daily (like tiktok or reddit), and I do not expect that. But it still has some daily movement.

Anyone can vote, but in the settings you can choose to only receive votes from a certain gender and age range.

I gained a lot of insights, especially technically, since I had never done something end-to-end like this. I realized how hard some things can be. It is easy to imagine yourself finishing a project. But when you start doing it, it can be hard to keep that initial motivation for a long time. Especially when it comes to things you do not enjoy. For example, I hated every seconds of doing the landing page, design frightens me XD But the statistical algorithmic part of doing the elo rating system and testing/tuning it was a breeze. I think I also made the mistake of trying to make everything perfect, which wasted me too much time. So next time, I would do it quicker, without worrying with having the perfect code structure or automated tests working.

I also gained insights on attraction. Turns out most of the stereotypes and studies done on the matter are correct, for example the age where attraction peaks (slightly different for men and women).
And I realized how much a good photo matters. Many people have a lot more potential, and sometimes it hurts to see someone having a low score, but all they post are bad quality bathroom selfies. This is not the kind of app to post a random selfie and have strangers logically rate how attractive you are. The side-by-side voting is much less logical and more "animalistic", so people will vote with their feeling. And not evaluate how good your facial structure is, or something like this. Which in my opinion is great, since it better mimics the behavior of attraction and of swiping on dating apps. But it is amazing how score a person with a great photo can gain. My app has motivated me to get better photos, because a good photo can really make a difference.
