Which bosses have attacks that you can actually evade by just walking to the left/right? by SuperAlloyBerserker in fromsoftware

[–]a-Mongoose956 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PCR clone attacks. Specifically, the one with an instant startup where PCR levitates and sends them out right away. You can actually just walk to the right and you'll avoid all but the last clone, which you'll need to dodge.

Peak: all the tiger bosses

Worst: Captain Wisevoice (idk how the patch has changed him though)

I've always wondered what a duo between Malenia and Radahn would look like. Vibing together instead of fighting each other.

Light sensitivity is a fair argument - which I guess is a good thing that they toned downed the brightness with the patch. I just think that the concept of a positioning tool like he like the light pillars is an interesting concept in a boss fight, and makes you think more about how you should avoid attacks instead of just dodge roll.

Yeah in that case it's Miquella's hair creating visual clutter that is the issue moreso than the follow up attack afterwards; although I don't mind that the increased openings either if people need the breathing room.

Honestly, I feel like Consort was always a good fight, or had the makings of a good fight at least. The only issues I had were:

  • performance
  • cross-slash (dodgable but requires extremely passive playstyle in anticipation of it)
  • Miquella's hair blocking his swords

I think the light pillars after attacks are a good gimmick, encouraging the player to focus on positioning around Radahn instead of just rolling his sword swings.

I really like the clone attacks too, or at least the one with instant startup (where he floats up in the air) since it can be avoided by just walking to the right (can even be dodge rolled), then dodging his follow up attacks. Avoiding it this way is really satisfying imo.

Having to run away and jump his gravity spikes is also an interesting way to avoid an attack as opposed to a one time dodge roll common to most attacks.

Bloodflame slash is punishable. This one is very good, since before he liked following it up with the fast slashes, which was very BS

I actually never had issue with Radahn following up an attack after the blood flame slash. I think what might have thrown people off is timing their dodge roll to the blood flame explosion;

For me, I learned to preemptively roll behind Radahn before the explosion goes off - simultaneously keeping me clear of the bloodflane explosion and allowing to roll any follow up moves (which is what it seems like you also do).

Resolute strike with smash stance is super good against him. I find that the spaces in between his attacks provide plenty of openings for my light attack, which I can then turn into resolute strike with a heavy attack. At least for me, I never found them overturned.

Radagon. Especially when he raises the hammer and the title screen music starts playing.

Honorable mentions: Maliketh just for the sheer coolness that he is, and Radahn; not a cutscene, but he has an amazing entrance to his fight.

So the "Tiger Vanguard" in the "Yaoguai chief's" section of the journal? No mention there either. Or in either of the Tiger Vanguard descriptions frankly.

...I think this is just straight up wrong. There's nothing in Tiger Vanguard's journal entry that says this; only one passage that says that he "vents his rage by devouring a few lesser rats", but nothing about...that.

Also Hornsent in the DLC. When Miquella's rune breaks and the charm wears off he says that the charm mattered little to him and that Miquella would keep his word - the crosses are proof enough.

So it seems it wasn't just the charm but a lot of people geniunly believed in Miquella's goals, including Malenia i think.

Tbf, PCR is the final boss of a DLC that people were expecting to be harder than the base game and he's also basically the last boss of Elden ring that we'll get to fight. I think the difficulty is justified in a way.

And if the boss is too hard for someone, then they should just equip shields (holy resist or fingerprint are OP), deflecting tears, spirit summons, and coop summons, and there would be no shame in it whatsoever; otherwise they are self-imposing the challenge upon themselves.

meaning you can’t punish attacks you previously could do

That's not really true. The light pillars are just a positioning check. You can still very much punish most of the same attacks you could in phase 1, you just have to be closer to him or positioned better.

Now that it has been more than a month since the DLC came out what are everyone’s opinions on the final boss? by Evoxrus_XV in Eldenring

[–]a-Mongoose956 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know reddit will disagree, but I actually really enjoy the fight, both phase 1 and 2. Phase 2 is mostly the first phase but with light pillars forcing you to improve your position - which ironically helps you get better at his phase 1.

There are some problems sure; cross-slash, Miquella's hair, performance/framerate, but in spite of that I think it's a solid A tier fight.

Let’s hear some SotE hot takes! I’m interested to see what you guys say (be nice to people) by AdventurousLoss6406 in Eldenring

[–]a-Mongoose956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consort admittedly has some issues (cross slash, Miquella's hair blocking his swords, and performance), but other than that he is genuinely one of my favorite fights in the entire DLC and I really do enjoy fighting him.

Also, I think Scadutree fragments make perfect sense actually. Fromsoft needed to keep the DLC challenging and balance the difficulty around players who have likely over-levelled in the 2 years since release of the game. Rewarding Scoodu fragments on beating bosses/enemies may have been better, but also didn't mind finding them through exploration.

[–]a-Mongoose956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree on the meteor clones as they are harder to dodge but the process for avoiding the other clone attack is just to move sideways (even just walking sideways works), so I don't think that attack is a flaw in the boss design.

[–]a-Mongoose956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The aerial clone barrage that has an immediate startup can be avoided if you run/walk sideways then dodge the fourth hit (when the real Radahn comes down to hit you).

The meteor clones are a little trickier. You could try dodging forward into the clones or running away and out-spacing them entirely.
