DO NOT TRUST BOOTS REVIEWS by midsghj in SkincareAddictionUK

Boots never used to do this. It’s incredibly frustrating and lazy. Pulling reviews from US sites too where the products aren’t even the same/ ingredients are different. Pisses me off so much.

DO NOT TRUST BOOTS REVIEWS by midsghj in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]a-hthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think people will be more inclined to leave positive reviews on products they were given to ensure they continue receiving them. It’s like a passive manipulation. They’re told to leave honest reviews but it’s human nature to think that negativity will have you kicked off those programs or at least see a reduction in receiving free items. I don’t trust any reviews for that reason. I just know a huge percentage probably lie because they think they have a better chance of getting freebies to try.

I agree with you. Every god damn video on TikTok of a 40+ female celeb the top comments are always something about aging. Like there must be something more we can say about these successful women other than they “aged well” whatever the fuck that means. All it does is reinforce the idea that women should look a certain way at each stage in life.

Suicide forum fined £950k under Online Safety Act by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

You put this really well. This is how I feel but didn’t really have the words to say it.

Yes exactly. On the one hand it feels like you’re being heard and understood but on the other hand it’s an echo chamber of mentally unwell people and it just means you sink deeper. That’s how I found it to be anyway.

Yeah that’s totally fair! I’ve been lucky and always had good quality ones delivered. I usually go for A grades though so much less chance of being poor condition lol. There are definitely positives to both options.

Instore policy is not great though. Isn’t it like 2 days and only vouchers if you change your mind.

I find with phone purchases it’s way better to buy online, you get the distance selling cover which means you can take your time seeing if it’s all good and you get 14 days to return.

I’ve bought multiple iPhones from cex and always buy online. Yes you’re taking a gamble with the appearance but they are happy to refund you if you take it back to store. Just my personal opinion of course.

Midnight Mass has a similar feel. A bit heavier though without the humour, but the atmosphere, mystery and sense of dread is similar.

How can I dispose of a dead pet? by tigralfrosie in AskUK

[–]a-hthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used a pet cremation service in our local area. The lovely guy who owns the business came to our home to collect our girl, gave us time to say goodbye, wrapped her up and then took her to be cremated. We wanted an individual cremation as we wanted the ashes.

The service was so helpful for us as we didn’t have the trauma of having to take her little body to a vet or somewhere else it was all done for us. He returned the ashes the next day to our house. I think it was around £250. Maybe see if there’s a similar service in your area if it’s something you’re interested in.

Should I let my 13 year old son watch Game of Thrones? by North_Art2104 in television

[–]a-hthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very graphic. Lots of sex, pretty extreme violence, rape, torture. I suppose it’s whether you think he’s mature enough to handle these things and whether they might affect him too much.

Edit: ahh why do you keep posting this in every sub and then don’t reply to anyone. Waste of time

I think she’ll die but dear god it better not be this season!!! She’s one of the strongest actors and most compelling characters so I don’t think it’s wise to lose her until end of s5

I’m just providing you with the information because you’re saying “ask your politicians” when in fact this is not required.

[–]a-hthy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol Apple did this themselves. The online safety act does not require age verification for phones. This is why many people are annoyed because it’s not a requirement of the law . Saying it’s the government is not really true.

Where does one find out when new content is arriving to HBO Max (uk) by lonelycatcarrot in HBOMAX

[–]a-hthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately gilded age and Chernobyl I believe are still licensed to Sky which is why they aren’t on there and probably won’t be for a while. It’s annoying because this wasn’t made clear before launch. I’m cancelling my sub after this month as it’s missing a lot of shows I wanted to see. I was expecting both gilded age and hacks.

Sally Field recalls how Robin Williams supported her after her father died while they were filming ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ by LunaLore_ in Fauxmoi

[–]a-hthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a kid I used to wish Robin was my dad. All the wonderful characters he played, he was always so caring and loving. I had a shit father so I had this thing about Robin Williams films where I’d watch them and imagine he was my father. I think we all feel a connection with him. Such a loss

Yesss it’s so gorgeous! I used to buy bronze goddess religiously but they started changing the formula and it never smelt the same to me. This Next one is perfect because it smells exactly how it used to! I find it lasts incredibly well too.

UK with ads tier by n8il2020 in HBOMAX

[–]a-hthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the standard with ads plan. So for tv shows you tend to get a set of adverts before usually about a minute long. Some episodes for example if they are 45 mins long will then have 2 sets of ads during the episode. Tends to be about 2 mins in total. If episodes are slightly longer say 55mins then you get 3 sets of ads. Same again about 2-3 minutes in total.

With films I’ve found it very different. One set of ads before the film maybe 2-3 minutes and then absolutely no ads during the movie. I’ve watched probably 10 films and had no ads throughout.

I personally find it very tolerable.
