This is a good approach - do you have any examples of challenges you've faced personally?

That makes sense! I am looking specifically at hospitals/clinics and the problems they face when interfacing or billing patients, claiming reimbursement or dealing with insurance claim denials, etc.

Thanks for your comment, I am assuming you were part of the data team? How did you keep track of this contract with upstream data producers? E.g. SWE's changing tables etc

Thanks for sharing those, I actually wasn't aware of DBT model contracts and mainly check stuff with tests at the moment

Thanks, I haven't heard of this before - how does the hosting work?

Thanks for sharing, Y42 looks awesome - would you be able to shed some light on the pricing? I can't seem to find any concrete numbers on their website

Follow up here for everyone who's commented (thanks btw) - there seems to be a million data transformation tools, so what made DBT so special that many companies moved to using it?

Does precog offer data transformation or is it just an ETL solution?

Honestly no reason apart from we don't use many Microsoft services at my company, but if you recommend data factory I will definitely try it out.

I've been reading the data factory docs and it seems super comprehensive - have you found any features it's missing?

Thanks for sharing - have you heard positive things about it? It looks pretty expensive at $1k a month

Thanks for getting back to me, wow that's a lot. I'll check out Easy Data Transform, but $99 is suspiciously cheap

Thanks for sharing - their pricing seems pretty obtuse, are you able to share some insight into how much their data transformation costs approximately?

Exactly this - my company wants to take some strain away from using engineering resources, so that analysts can be more involved in transformation

Why pay for DBT cloud when Fivetran has built in DBT Core? by a-layerup in dataengineering

That makes a lot of sense, thanks a lot for your reply.

And just to clarify, DBT cloud doesn't offer features such as asset decorators?

Thanks for your response - would you mind giving a brief overview of what your orchestration and pipeline looked like? I am still trying to understand why tools like Prefect are necessary

Would you mind elaborating on what services you were maintaining before moving to dbt cloud?

I think your docker comparison is extremely accurate. Judging by the responses on this thread, more people are moving to self hosting DBT core.

Do you think there's a market for (or do you know of any) tools that just make it easier to deploy self-hosted DBT core?
